The Walk Back Home ... 🐑👣
" The nomads of Himalayas are locally known as Gaddis. They are a specific tribe which lives in nomadic ways, by rearing huge number of sheeps high up on the mountain meadows in the summer months. The high altitude meadows are full of good grass and herbs, that help the sheeps to grow better and bigger in size. Also the wool formed is best in quality, since high up it's always cold that the sheeps need to form it.

As summer ends with September, the nomads head back to the plains where the weather will be warmer with their sheeps and huge herds. In the process the Gaddis cover almost thousand miles a year by foot 👣 to carry their lifestyle. Incredible isn't it ?

This great migration is a yearly tradition since centuries. And today we got to see the same as a huge herd of sheeps were taken down by Gaddi families in the roads of

Did you know the story of " Har ki Doon " ?


Shiva , the ancient Hindu God loved this breathtaking valley and used to meditate here. When humans came here often to gather herbs , Shiva would change himself in the form of a calf ( A baby buffalo ) and roam around. But his coat would be of gold and would shine so bright in sun , that a lot of people did see him roaming around in the ancient times.

It is believed among the locals still, that humans with pure heart and soul are still able to glimpse the divine form of Shiva and attain Moksha in this life, even today while roaming around this high altitude valley of Har ki Doon.

Even the name means, " Valley of Shiva if you translate Har ( Shiva ) Ki Doon ( Valley ) from the local language.

So tell me would you guys like to try your luck with the divine ?

A thought that has been in me for long... 👇

" To encounter the sacred, all expectations, conscious or unconscious must be dropped. The sacred is there, it is all around us, every second, every moment. It is timeless, filled with beauty.

There is no distinction between the sacred and unsacred.

A book, a symbol, a church, or a mosque is No More sacred than a little grain of sand. Our life is no more sacred than the life of an ant. There is no lesser meaning of life if you aren't finding One at all.

You see, there is only reality with expectations and reality without expectations.

To have no expectations is to fully see life's beauty, for every second is a surprise. And that is what it means to be in awe. To see the unseen, over and over.

And I guess for that only we who love to escape , keep doing it without guilt. And feel that sense of sacredness only while we are out there in the wild...

The Legend of Mt. Shivling ⛰️

One of the most prominent peaks of Garhwal Himalayas , Shivling has a divine and mysterious aura. One is able to encounter this peak when walking on the Gangotri glacier trek.

It was also called Mahadeo Ka Linga or (Mahadev Ka Linga), which gives its divine aura. Appearing as a single pyramid when seen from Gaumukh, the source of river Ganges.

Shivling is actually a twin-summitted mountain, with the northeast summit being slightly higher than the southwest summit, 6,501 m (21,329 ft). Between Gaumukh and Shivling lies the Tapovan meadow, a popular pilgrimage site due to its inspiring view of the mountain. That is also where I have taken this pictures. 📸
