The majestic lions, towering giraffes and graceful gazelles of Masai Mara just became a lot easier to spot. Kenya, the East African country which houses the vast preserved savannah, will soon allow travellers from across the world to visit visa-free, announced Kenya President William Ruto on 12 December.
“It shall no longer be necessary for any person from any corner of the globe to carry the burden of applying for a visa to come to Kenya,” Ruto said in a speech he gave in Nairobi, as part of an event celebrating 60 years of Kenya’s independence from Britain. Ruto also announced that the government is developing a digital platform that will grant travellers an electronic travel authorisation prior to their arrival in Kenya, completely eliminating the need for a visa.

The Patrika Gate in Jaipur is vibrant and colorful because it celebrates the culture, heritage, and vibrancy of Rajasthan.

The intricate designs and bright hues showcase the region’s rich history and artistic traditions . If you are in Jaipur you must visit, but go early as it gets crowded. To take this photograph I was there at 6.30am, but worth it!

Amidst the grandeur of Abhaneri Stepwells lies a hidden secret that few know about—a mysterious connection to ancient legends and celestial beliefs. Local folklore whispers that these step-wells were not just architectural wonders but portals to otherworldly realms.

It is said that during certain celestial alignments, the step wells emit an enchanting aura, and faint melodies resonate from the depths. Legend has it that these celestial occurrences attract celestial beings, and some claim to have encountered ethereal figures emerging from the well's waters.

Locals also believe that the intricate carvings and geometrical patterns on the steps hold a secret code, revealing astronomical knowledge passed down through generations. Some scholars speculate that the Stepwells' design may align with celestial events, serving as a celestial observatory for ancient astronomers.

While these mystical tales have been handed down through generations, the allure of Abhaneri Stepwells remains unexplained and shrouded in enigma. The secrets held within their depths continue to intrigue curious minds, inviting travelers to unlock the mysteries of this ancient wonder and experience its hidden magic for themselves.

In the ever-evolving landscape of the hospitality industry, the use of technology in Hospitality has emerged as a key player in helping hotels stay competitive and efficient. From streamlining operations to enhancing the guest experience, technology adoption has proven to be a valuable asset for hotels of all sizes.

It’s important to understand though that automation in the hospitality industry is not about replacing human employees. It’s rather about augmenting their efforts and working towards the common goals of making daunting hotel operations more efficient, saving time and costs, and increasing guest satisfaction.

~ ARE YOU A TOURIST OR TRAVELLER? ~

I think by default all travellers are also tourists. But not all tourists are travellers. Here’s why!

TOURIST:

✨ As a tourist I’ve enjoyed relaxing on a vacation. Staying in the comfort of a nice hotel or disconnecting from the stress of work for the sole purpose of enjoyment.

✨ Travelling in a group where somebody else is planning my trip and all I have to do is show up!

✨ Taking pre-booked guides, tours and going to the most recommended places in any destination.

✨ And of course doing the most touristy activities on top of the list as recommended on wiki travel or TripAdvisor.

TRAVELLER:

✨ As a traveller, I’ve taken the off the beaten path to connect with places.

✨ Whether it’s cycling through small towns, speaking to locals, staying at their homes, enjoying local delicacies/street food and leaving the comfort of familiarity behind me.

✨ Or better, looking for reasons to find familiarity in new locations for completely new reasons.

✨ A face behind a shop counter that smiles back at me, my favourite street corner where I love going back for how the food tasted or what it reminded me of.

✨ Looking for recommendations from locals and finding a little something about places which they like to frequent.

✨ Pursuing a new activity, purely for the joy of learning about the place or it’s culture or with the intention of forging a deeper connection with the place. Like a blue pottery class or cooking class!

BUT:

✨ In all fairness, being a traveller is at times hard when you’re travelling solo, navigating a new landscape, carrying your heavy bags, and falling sick in foreign lands isn’t always the most amazing feeling.

✨ Also it takes more time at a new place to be a traveller which not everybody may have the luxury of.

✨ It is okay to be either, a tourist or a traveller at different points of time in your life.

But I would encourage everybody to take the off the beaten path atleast once, to truly feel connected with who you are in a foreign land.

✨ And at the end of the day. No matter who you are or which role you like to don while travelling, always be mindful of the culture and owe the locals their due respect.

✨ Be a kind guest in a land that belongs to somebody else and take back only memories, shopping bags (if thats your thing) and an experience that feels the most authentic to you!

So tell me, are you a tourist or traveller

The khardungla lies at an altitude of about 18000 feet above sea level. It is the second highest pass in the world. It offers a view of peaks that are covered with snow perennially which make for a picturesque view. A short climb leads to a gompa and innumerable flags which make for wonderful instagram- able moment. The local cafés at khardungla offer hot cups of tea, coffee and Maggi which make for an idyllic mountain experience. One can also buy souvenirs. The drive from leh to khardungla takes around an hour and a half.
