Just some detail shots of the Ken Lawrence guitar we recently worked on. Is the craftsmanship everything one should look up to? You bet. After we were done with it, was the setup everything one should look up to? You bet.
ThingSmiths: People who work with Things
An On-Call Musical Instrument Technical Expertise Service.
Well, if you read through our page you'll realize that we obviously aren't right in the head, but when you see the work we'll do you'll realize that we're insanely good at doing it. Jokes apart, here's the real details:
Setups, Modifications, Overhauls and Restorations:
Well we can do all of that and many times more, our setups are based on experience as a player as well as the knowledge and und
erstanding of how each and every part of an instrument works, so once we're done with your instrument, it'll be everything you want it to be and more. Modifications, Oh how we love them, ranging from the "vain and simple" to the "complicated and technical" to the "bizzare and crazy" stuff. If you can think of a modification, we can most probably pull it off (unless you happen to be a crazier nut than we are). Overhauling isn't really something you get to hear about in relation to musical instruments, but Yes, it matters and it helps......a lot. We literally take the insturment (or a specific part of it) and dissasemble it down to it's pieces, after that, we work extensively on each of the individual components and reassemble the entire instrument (or part). Some of you may think it's un-necessary, but trust us (however deranged we may appear) it makes a world of difference, that's a lot of difference . Got an old instrument your grandparents owned and it passed down to you, or do you have a vintage gem lying around in a wasted state, lost and forgotten instruments....... well, then it's time to raise the dead:
Restoration is our most work-intensive and most technically demanding service. Age is no bar for an instrument, never was, never will be, not with us around. So that sort of sets things straight about what we do, so what are you waiting for write to us or give us a call, yeah!

What are those lovely looking stainless steel bolts out there for? That's right, they're gonna be installed into a bridge to replace the predictably aged poor alloy bolts.
Why? Because your gear deserves the best. K? K.
Before.......Swipe for the After pic.
Why should you get us to service your guitar when it looks alright? This. This is one of the many reasons why.
Left side vs right side: you know your guitar needs servicing when the fretboard looks like the frets on the right. You know who can bring the fretboard from the right side to the left side? The Chief, so give us a buzz 😁
What do we do when a replacement isn't available in time and the guitar needs to be ready? We do what every reasonably capable technician should be capable of doing: we repair the part instead 💯👌
Custom made cables on your mind? Well why didn't you say so? Give us a buzz to get high quality cables tailored to your needs today 🧠📈
On today's episode of why your guitar needs servicing:
This. Yup. Pretty much 😅
Why try this, that and the other techie and end up with gear that's clean on the outside but dying inside when you can bring your gear to the ThingSmiths instead 😎
Talk about gorgeous inlay work, this stuff is intense. Can you guess which company pulled this off? Let us know what you think in the comments below 🙂
Just a funky lil thing from that we worked on recently.
Is setting up a headless guitar a completely different game compared to setting up a guitar with a headstock? Not really.
Is the intonation process any different on a headless? Absolutely, it's way harder and takes someone with a good understanding of gear to do it right.
Why take your headless guitar elsewhere when you could bring it to someone with a good understanding of gear (i.e. the Chief) instead? DM us today.
This AZ came in for a setup+servicing to be prepped for a long run of commercial gigs.
If you're serious about your work then you've got to treat your tools right, if you're lax and careless about your work then you ignore the upkeep of your tools, so are you a lax and careless musician or are you coming to us with your guitars? 😎😎😎
An a e s t h e t i c photo of a stainless steel screw upgrade on an old bridge.
These new screws will outlive the bridge at this point 😅
Bonus "shims are terrible" reference in there if you swipe.
Did it djent? No.
But did it dj0nt tho? Why yes, it most certainly did
Juggling things around has been quite taxing, but I'm gonna come through and follow the good advice y'all gave me 🙂
A Paranormal Super-Sonic. Cool? Well, they feel weird to play on but they're fun nevertheless.
The Chief's been running swamped with work these past week and a half, things are slow on the social media side.
So, to break that silence, here, have a swanktastic , arguably fun to work on, and even more fun to play 😁
A little before and after action 😅❤️
You won't know till you try, well, hats off to content creators and social media management executives, their work takes a lot, I'm still working on it all, but things will improve soon and you'll start seeing the content you've always wanted from your techie 🙂❤️
To be honest, the marketing side of things isn't something I'm good at, I'm good at doing the work but not at spreading the word about it, but with your help, I can be better at it.
Check my story and tell me about the topics you'd like to see.
Nothing much, just two les pauls placed casually on a bed.

Quick update for y'all 🙂
Time to finally get to it, let's take a moment to think about what we actually want to make happen with TheThingSmiths.
Think about it, and you'll see a story asking for your inputs in a few days. Y'all are awesome 😎
Time to get to work, let's take a moment to think about what we'd actually like to see happen with TheThingSmiths, and then let's get moving in a day or two. Y'all are fantastic 🙂
The people have spoken, and once again, because I'm trying to get better at fixing my drawbacks and need your help, tell me which area you feel I should work on the most in my story. 🙂
Who should I turn to ask for the right changes? You of course 🧠
Check my story and tell me 🙂
Tell me your guitar needs servicing without telling me your guitar needs servicing 😂😂😂
What good is overhyped and snobbish copper shielding when the "pRo"does not use sensible insulation?
And what good is a "hAnDcRaFtEd" neck when even that custom neck requires a shim?
This is why elitism and snobbery in the industry needs to end. Looking down on people who don't play the "throw money and get ahead" game gets us where? Right here.
Despite the sh*tbox work done on this guitar before it reached us, we still made it play and sound better, because that's what good work looks like
Pretty in pink, plays well in pink after we went through it 😁
What's your favourite colour for a guitar? Let us know in the comments below.
Cables. You need them. We fulfill your needs. Simple ain't it? Now DM us your needs and watch the magic 🙂😅
What does do before hitting the studio to record his debut album at ?
He brings his gear over to the Chief. Be like Anurag 🧠😎

If your techie can't do this with the locks off, then you need to find a better techie. A good setup will always trump a half baked but good looking job that uses the locks as a crutch. But,
