Satopanth lake trek is a beautiful trek in Garhwal Himalayas. Trek starts from Mana village, and following the course of alaknanda we reach Alaka puri where, two glaciers satopanth and baghirathi kharak meet to form a snout from where Alaknanda River emerges. Alaknanda later meets Baghirathi to form Ganga at Devprayag.
Satopanth literally means "on the path of truth". Mythology says Pandavas went to the " swarga" or heaven by walking this route, in the end time of their life.

Contemplating on the arduous journey of Pandavsera to Nandi kund lake. The Trail is like 20 % flat and 80 % up.
In the far distance we can see Pandavsera camp site, positioned between three mountains. As the name suggests, the place is believed to be connected to pandavas and it used to be their paddy fields.
After crossing the flat meadow the tough uphill climb starts, with strong fragnence of Bhramkamal, which are present on this particular day's trail in abudance.
The Trail is itself garden of Bhramkamal flowers.
Thinking of doing this trek again early October 2022, still there is much to explore on this trek.

Tea at Shepherd's hut on satopanth trek.
While returning from Chakrateerth camp, the Shepherd was kind enough to offer us some tea. At first we were reluctant but didn't wanted to miss the opportunity to have such an amazing experience of smoky tea. In return shanthi mam offered them pack of dry fruits, which he took happily.
Luckily we could capture all the elements of this beautiful experience in one photo...
Tea , mountains, Shepherd's hut and dog, beautiful clouds in backdrop.

" Here was a Mountain whose summit was the highest in the British empire. For centuries it had inspired worship and propitiartory sacrifice as the the 'Blessed Goddess' of Hindu philosophers and scribes. For more than fifty years it had been the inaccessible goal of explorers who, had failed in reapeated attempts to reach even its foot, the reason being that around the 25,660- foot mountain itself streched a huge ring of peaks, more than thirty of them over 21000 feet high, that constituted themselves unrelenting guardians of the great mountain and defeated any pe*******on"
From the excerpts of the Book " Nanda Devi " by Eric Shipton

BAGNI GLACIER TREK , Garhwal Himalayas, Uttrakhand. (1/6)
"A Trek To Land of Mountain God"
DAY 1 : RUING CAMP (2,793 m).
Bagni Glacier lies in Northern part of highest peak of Uttrakhand, that is Nanda Devi (7,816 m) .
It is a 6 Day trek, with highest altitude of 4,800m
To do this trek, you have to reach Joshimath, stay there, and next day drive 45km to Jumma, on National highway going till last village of India in Neeti Valley.
From Jumma, its 3 km trek till Ruing village.
A wide and easy road constructed till Ruing bifurcating from National highway.
Though for first day its an easy trek of short distance and many people will insist on going to next camp , which is Dronagiri at height of 3,500m, but from joshimath at 1875 m to a height of 3500 m, its a lot of altitude gain in just 1 day. So there is a great chance you are not well acclimatized and you may end up ruining experience of a great trek.
Thats why one should take it easy and slow to get better acclimatized, and camp at Ruing village (2,793 m).
Ruing is a small village on the bank of Dhauli Ganga, surrounded by beautiful mountains full of pine and Deodaar trees.
In ruing village you can still see old life style of Mountain people, living their simple life away from luxury of outer world.

Lammergeier Himalayan Experience
We are neither the people who are college dropouts, nor are we who frustrated with their corporate jobs, and now finding the Himalayas fascinating, and eventually taking large groups of people to the sensitive Himalayan ecology, to churn money out of it, “yes its today’s Harsh reality of trekking industry in the Himalayas.”
Apart from this, we have a real deeper connection with the Himalayas, it is our home. We are born and brought up here, what really affects Himalaya’s affects us as well.
So we organize treks in such a way that it affects the Himalayan ecology in a minimum possible way.
For us, trekking in the Himalayas is not a “start-up” to churn maximum money irrespective of careless mass movement into its fragile environment.
Trekking is not a new trade for us, we have learned this trade from our ancestors who were the part of surveys done by the British government and the different expeditions ever took place in our region of Himalayas, as guides, porters, cooks, and other staff.
So our expertise in the Himalayan region not only comes from a mountaineering course but also from the vast experience of our ancestors, which they have been teaching us through their stories of expeditions.
Why Trek With Us?
We are highly responsible toward our home “The great Himalayas” and understand its ecology better than anyone through our past experiences, so we do not promote mass movement of people and fixed camping in a particular place for very long period while trekking.
We trek in a smaller group size maximum of 10 people, and it’s beneficial for both trekker and nature.
We provide you a variety of healthy, hygienic food and nutritious food, which is freshly prepared at campsites.
The safety of every participant is our prime concern; we are backed by a well qualified and experienced team with modern safety gear.
“Lammergeier Himalayan Experience” is a team of local Himalayan people, who are considered to be most honest and simple people, we give you quality services what we promise and there are no “hidden charges”
The Lammergeier Himalayan Experience Team:
Our Guides are local Himalayan people, so they have experience of more than a decade in their particular trails and they are familiar with almost every stone on the trail.
Our cooks and kitchen staff work with full dedication and love to serve you delicious, hygienic, and nutritious food, that you will never miss a chance to appreciate them.
Our connection with Nature and local people
we strictly follow the principles of “Leave No Trace ”, every nonbiodegradable substance is taken back and dumped into the nearest dustbin in closet town where the government has measures to treat it.
We say no to campfire, yes we know people enjoy it a lot, but its enough now.
(i) A great no of people are trekking in the Himalayas, and they are doing campfire, this amount of campfire certainly produces a lot of carbon dioxide which is harmful to wild animals and the environment.
(ii) People have a tendency of burning plastic for a campfire, when they run out of nearby wood.
(iii) Sometimes people don’t extinguish the fire completely and it may cause a forest fire.
(iii) The wood used for the campfire is home and food for many insects and microorganisms; by burning it you are destroying them.
(iv) Often during a Himalayan trek, you have noticed many Himalayan villages on your trails and shepherds in the meadows, these people are dependent on forest wood for fuel, as there is no LPG available to them, By using their share of dry wood you are increasing their hardship.
so as a mountain-lovers let’s pledge together say “no to campfire”
* We have introduced local products like Handicrafts, fruits, and other edibles in the trekking industry which certainly helping the local economy.
