#StorytellingForBusiness #StorytellingInIndia #StorytellingPrograms #StoryConsultant #StoryCoach #StorytellingForChange
8 years as a Storytelling Coach & Trainer, I’ve taught Storytelling to teachers, parents, grandparents, librarians, activity teachers, counsellors, therapists, special educators how to tell stories.
145 storytellers across the India, Dubai, Australia, Hongkong and Pakistan have done my flagship storytelling course, 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 | 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻.
Over 2000 teachers across Indian schools have trained under us.
Of all of them, only 3 have been MEN?
A theatre actor, a primary school teacher and a stay-at-home father!
Honestly, we are disappointed!
Is Storytelling ONLY reserved for mothers, female teachers and women wanting to work with children?
Men have equal rights in the world of storytelling for children.
Here is why we champion the cause of 𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗦!!
1) 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: Boys and Men have been stereotyped to be less emotional. Men are equal emotional as women and they can ‘show’ their emotions just as well. It is important for children to see their fathers, grandfathers and male teachers exhibit a range of emotions through storytelling.
2) 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲: Traditional Stories are seeped in gender stereotypes and biases. It is important to see MALE Storytellers step into stories and balance the odds of the male voice.
3)𝗕𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗿: Storytellers are nurturers. Nurturing is as much a male’s right as it is the female’s responsibility. Come, nurture children with your stories.
At 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗴, we have set out to do something that has been in our heart for a long time. We want to create and see more male storytellers in the world.

When you are thrown into the middle of a contest or a competition, you are rarely given the time to decide HOW you want to compete?
Let’s suppose your child is vying for the school prefect / leader position. Or maybe he/she is going after that coveted medal in sports day. Or let’s suppose your child is desperate to stand ‘first’ in class.
What if you and your child know that he / she has to compete to prove that one is better, smarter, sharper, or there is a faster child in the race, or there is less preparation before examinations?
How does one compete under such circumstances?

What if you could listen to a story to help you solve that dilemma?
Let's answer that first question with a story!
This week's on my #Podcast, we have a very special story that will help you consider your choices. After all good #Storytelling is all about finding ourselves in the stories we consume!

While children, families & the rest of the world was locked inside homes, Rituparna was approached by an organisation to customise a storytelling intervention for parents.
During the pandemic, we worked with several sets of parents, educators and organisations that was trying to connect with children.
𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 is a refreshed & reloaded module that uses storytelling as a tool to understand children and the way they look at the world today.
This is a module designed specifically for parents, teachers, storytellers (working specifically with children) who want to use stories as a bridge to understand children, their emotions, dilemmas & questions.
Through this module, we try to understand the child’s story so we don’t take over their narrative & solve problems. Instead, we give them the tools to manage their own lives.
How do we do this?
Through stories of course!

Storytelling with Rituparna | 5W's - 1 H in a Story
What’s the shortest way to stitch a story together?
Put the 5W’s and 1 H in a sequence. Your story can begin with any of the W’s or the lone H and weave in all the elements…the magic lies in how you bind them together.
What are the 5W’s and 1 H in a story?
Here’s a sneak peak in my storyteller’s notebook. I share my notes and tell you HOW to use them!

A storyteller once told me, “Don’t take yourself seriously!” As storytellers, we often feel that we have set out to change the world. Our stories and our work will change the world and so we must keep telling stories.
In the world of social media this cool advice still holds true. I was nervous when I chose to step away from Instagram for more than a month. Like I said, some of you didn’t even notice that I was missing. Trust me I was hoping that there were more of you.
I stepped away to be on LinkedIn for a while. So while I was missing from here, I didn’t give up on social media! In fact I was doing right the opposite. I was investing in understanding how does social media work & what is in it for me!
I’ve had tremendous learnings in this meantime and I’ve begun to realize that I don’t quite understand my audience on Instagram. More than 2000 of you, but I barely know 20 of you! You are the 20 who see my stories, read my posts, like them mostly and comment sometimes. Where are the others?
I like to call myself a Creative Entrepreneur, a distinct specie of a Content Creator who creates content to grow her business.
So I’m now learning about the different parts of me and understand how can I give the best of myself on every platform that I am in.
Let’s begin with the community here. If you see this, tell me, how can I help? What kind of content would you like to see on the page.
I’d like you to select your content on social media & I want to be one of the pages that adds value to you. I don’t want to be a waste of your time…a page you see, like and move on!
Let’s make social media more meaningful for you and creatively satisfying for me ⭐️
So help me on this one please.
DM me or let’s start a conversation in the comments below!
Talk to you soon!

💛What do you think you're carrying?
💛Do you have stories from your childhood, your growing up years, or your coming of age?
💛Do you have stories of wins and losses?

💛Do you have stories where you have been the hero, the anti-hero or just a bystander?

Storytelling is a lonely journey. Both, as an artist & as a solopreneur / entrepreneur.
As long as your stories are in vogue, as long as people seek your stories, your listeners will follow you. But there are times when the listeners are not in the mood for a story. There are other attractions for your listeners. That’s when darkness draws around you.
When Rituparna Ghosh set off as an #oralstoryteller, she desperately wanted to belong somewhere. She wanted to be part of a community that would be her safe space where she could be honest about the lows of being a performing artist. She wanted a space where she could build her skills, collaborate with others and be part of a collective voice that believed in the larger purpose of a storyteller.
With time, we realised that we are building one such space at @YourStoryBag Our Tribe members have flourished, they have grown in the ecosystem, become brands of their own and are shining examples of value-oriented storytellers. As we spend time with aspiring & ambitious storytellers in India, we have realised that ecosystem for storytellers have evolved. Today there is ‘competition’, a lack of security & a sense of shifting identity. This is where a community is more important.
@YSB Tribe of Storytellers is at the heart of what we do at Your Story Bag. They are our ambassadors, our champions, our close-knit community that we have built with virtues of collaboration & companionship. It’s a joy to celebrate their journeys! You will see us cheering them in our #stories regularly.
Today, people want to join our Storytelling Program because they want to belong to this Tribe.
They want to learn storytelling so they could work closer with our storytellers.
They want to join the community because they know they will have a safe space to call their own.
At Your Story Bag, our programming & pitching actively involves our Tribe. We actively work with clients, passing on work and connections to our storytellers. We
The top questions I get ahead of my storytelling course are:
🗣Will you teach how to modulate my voice?
🥴 Will you teach how to make faces?
🎭 Will you teach how to use puppets?
I realise that people think this 👆🏽is what storytelling is all about!
At least that’s what you need to be a children’s storyteller.
This is NOT what storytellers do.
The storytellers use these tools to make you SEE & FEEL things. And that’s where the magic, trick & secret lies behind storytelling.
Storytellers take you to places where you have never been.
Storytellers make you to reflect & answer questions that come within you.
Storytellers do not manipulate and tell you what to do. Instead they give you things to think about.
Storytellers can be great manipulators. In the hands of an adult it can be a terrible tool if mishandled.
👦Are you an adult telling stories to children?
👧Are you truly optimising the power of stories?
🧒Are you creating free thinkers?
