Continuing with mission of creating theme villages out of rural ecosystems, 'My Mom's Village' is our latest offering. On the ocassion of World Heritage Day, we are happy to present to you this theme village that is steeped in a rich socio-cultural heritage.
Located in the central district of Basti in eastern Uttar Pradesh, My Mom’s Village is a departure from the deep rooted patriarchal mindset and establishes a strong ‘pro-matriarchal’ precedence instilling an essence of ‘Women Empowerment’.
Tucked away in a huge private estate, replete with orchards, fishery ponds and farmlands (including 42 acres of certified organic land bank) is a 100-year-old ancestral estate. The place is surrounded by a healthy eco-system of flora and fauna.
Apart from promoting agro-tourism in the area, Bakri Chhap will also provide marketing support to the naturally grown local produce, providing a steady source of livelihood to the rural population.

Pradeep Pawar, an ace mountaineer and the very first team member of Bakri Chhap, is a proud social entrepreneur now, and a role model for few thousands in his valley and around.

Another key team member, Savita Kanswal, a 26 year old hailing from a marginalized village, Lonthru in Uttarakhand, became the second Indian woman to summit Mount Lhotse (the 4th highest & one of the most technically challenging peaks in the world) and is currently on her Mount Everest Expedition.

Women's Day is around the corner, and we are excited as ever. The Women Village is honoring the local womenfolk by saluting their spirit and hard work.

‘Abki Baar Ghasiyari’!- a festival for women, by women and at The Women Village (Bwari Gaon). What better place than The Women Village to recognise and acknowledge the rural women for their immeasurable contribution to the rural economy and sustainability of the community.

We're looking for 5 such locations with a possibility of 10-12 keys low footprint living structures, with a minimum 4 acres of land for permaculture, food forest and a common area doubling as interpretation centre.

We plan to take over green field projects as well as facility management of existing set ups or ancestral homes in rural India (the remoter the better) on collaborative, partnership or pro-bono basis, wherein our community members will be operators and inhabitants of the facility. They would not be a mere alternate living individuals, but will be meaningfully engaged in hyper local aspects of nature, culture and heritage conservation of the area. The community's business entity has proven track record of bringing paradigm shift to rural ecosystems where it has operated in the past.

Locations preferred in lower himalayan foothills, western coastal areas or adjoining area of forests.
