On Dev Diwali (Dev Diwali 2023 in Varanasi) in Varanasi, 84 ghats will be lit with lamps on 27th November.

This time on the occasion of Dev Diwali, special preparations are being made at the Ghats of Varanasi. Because the special thing is that out of the 21 lakh lamps that will be lit this time, 20 lakh lamps will be made of clay and one lakh lamps will be made of cow dung.

It is believed in the Puranas that on the day of Dev Diwali, Lord Shankar had defeated the demon named Tripurasura. In this happiness, the gods celebrated Diwali by lighting lamps on earth. Since then this festival has become popular. There is also a tradition of Tulsiji and Shaligram marriage on Kartik Purnima. This gives many times the virtue. Along with this, it is believed that on this day Lord Vishnu resides in water, hence bathing in the holy river also has great importance. This festival is celebrated with great pomp in Kashi.
