Al-Ukhaydir Fort is considered as one of the prominent archaeological and historical buildings in Iraq. It is distinguished by its massive construction and uniqueness in terms of design, ingenuity in its engineering, urban and decorative features, and the capacity of its facilities.
It is located southwest of Karbala, fifty kilometers from the city center, and about 152 kilometers southwest of Baghdad. Its location in this former place constitutes a great historical importance, as it is the crossroads of many trade routes. It is located on the road that connects Kufa to the Levant and is considered as a starting point to The Mediterranean Sea route, Aleppo-Basra, then the Arabian Gulf. Its unique location and the prominence of its urban landmarks had a prominent impact on the demand of visitors and tourists from inside and outside Iraq.
The Ziggurat of Ur is one of the oldest Iraqi temples, located about 40 kilometers west of the city of Nasiriyah in Dhi Qar Governorate.
The word "ziggurat" means a high place, and Iraq includes 28 ziggurats, the oldest and most famous of which is the "Ziggurat of Ur" located inside the ancient city of Ur.
This city is the focus of great tourist, cultural and historical interest, and it has been on the World Heritage List since 2016, because it is the oldest temple in Mesopotamia.
