It's amazing what a little validation can do for your confidence. I had almost convinced myself that the landscape around Borgarfjörður eystri wasn't a good fit for great skiing and winter travel but just two days with offering his perspective has completely debunked that nonsense. After two great days we're convinced that the local slopes have amazing potential for anyone willing to work for them. The Beastfjords live up to their name.

After over 100cm of snowfall bookended with rain and freeze cycles, we finally got calm winds and clear skies. The sun is starting to rise high over the mountains which really lifts my spirit. Soon we'll have bright mornings and evenings and plenty of time for adventures.

Goodness gracious, what a view!! We had the great honour of helping out with a new passport route by of the East, featuring stunning vistas and even more stunning headwind. We hosted a pair of amazing gravel cyclists, .me who rode the whole thing and gave us amazing feedback. To nobody's surprise, they thought the two days riding in our local Víknaslóðir Wilderness were far and away the best. We helped out by making sure they got the best weather 🌞. Hopefully you'll be able to ride this route soon by buying the self-guided trip by Cycling Westfjords. Photo by .cc

We got our first snow of the season after the first big storm of the season! A great time to look back on the seriously amazing riding days we had in August. It's such a nice time to ride; everything has dried out and the weather is usually pretty good. I'm working on some pretty exciting new tours these days for next season and I can't wait to share them with excited riders!

Come and enjoy yourself some Borgarfjörður fried Chicken, cornbread, some good ol’pie, and more American-inspired food.
Gabe Dunsmith and Christopher Rowley, Americans living in Iceland, will play folk tunes on the Appalachian dulcimer ( 🇮🇸 langspil) and banjo. They have brought foot-stomping dance tunes, and rollicking merriment to Reyjavík Fringe in 2022, and now will bring it to KHB! 🤠🤠
Put on your clogging shoes and get ready to clap, sing and dance a jig! 👞👞

Winter is still going strong out here which brings a bountiful harvest of activities! Skiing and snowboarding is still a relatively unexplored facet of the outdoor recreation menu that the area has to offer. It's also uniquely suited for intermediate to advanced skiers, with amazing rolling hillsides and endless nooks and crannies to explore. Another advantage is that the mountains aren't super tall, so getting to the top isn't very difficult and getting down is a breeze; more time to soak in the tub and taste the local beers and gin!

Even though it's only February, we're already thinking about summer! Bessí and I are ready to start work again as soon as everything thaws, because there's nothing better than working the trail with the helping paw of a good trail dog.
