Yesterday, we had the most extreme geomagnetic storm we have seen 21 years, a kp rating of 9!!!!

It has been verified that the lights were seen in South England as can be seen in the first picture here we got sent from a friend of ours living there.

As can also be seen in this article from the guardian, there is a likelihood of the lights reaching as far south as to Alabama and northern California!

We are off-season here in Iceland due to it being too bright and no official night time, so we are just gazing at the data and graphs.

This is happening NOW!
Kp 8 – Severe storm – Bright, dynamic and colourful auroras. Aurora seen around 50° latitude.
So keep your eyes on the night sky's 🤩🤩

Tonight, we are hoping for something amazing! Forecasts agree on over a kp-index of 5 tonight. That does sound like an unsettled night sky 😎

Keep in mind this is a forecast which does have the tendency to miss calculate. But right now, all signs point to "Let's get out there and look towards the northern night sky!"

We love Iceland!

Too cloudy tonight for Northern lights hunting. Thankfully, as we're not allowed to go anywhere outside Reykjavík (Red roads mean your NOT allowed 😅). But it's the perfect storm for staying home with a nice movie. And for jeep people to go out and help the ones in need! Wish us good luck!

Another GREAT month! 🥰

We've been having constant "Go" for our tour for almost three weeks now. Which is a bit higher then our average 50% cancelation due to cloud cover 😅 But it's been a lot of fun and we still don't see any problematic cloud cover in the next few days!

We have a "Go" tonight (what a shocker 🥳) Wish us good luck!

100% success so far and we've been very lucky with the lights intensity. We can't keep success rate so high through the season... but you can trust we do our best every single night 🥳

What a month!

Cloudy, rainy, windy and then finally snow 🙊

A tricky month with 24 cancels and gone out hunting only 6 times, one of which we got unlucky with fast changing weather.

These pictures and timelapse was on our last tour and what a night it was!
Freezing cold and windy but that didn't stop our fellow chasers waiting for the clouds to move out of the way for a beautiful display!
Ended the night with some hot chocolate and stargazing🤩🤗🥶🥳

We don't always get the brightest lights! That's up to nature.

But it's always fun, educational, interesting, exciting, dark, little spooky and..... here in iceland....often freeeeezing cold! 🥶😂

Any northern lights hunter would tell you it's all about the cloud cover and dressing appropriately to endure the night 🥴
