Just had a fabulous 24 hours at stunning Castelluccio as Mum and Dad had a day off from work. It’s great fun there and there’s lots of space to run around for us dogs just make sure you don’t go into the fields with the pretty flowers and lentils!

There are two camper stops which were both quite busy and would be really busy at the weekend. But it’s very peaceful after all the crowds have left, and we did lots of lovely walks. The camper stop near the horses and riding school is free and there are portable toilets and water but there is another camper stop further up towards the town.

Please do go and support Castelluccio as it was badly damaged in the earthquakes and still needs to be repaired, but the people need an income and totally rely on tourism. 

A magical place and a photographer’s paradise in July when the fioritura is in full swing!

Such a gorgeous little girl in Maya’s canile in Alcamo. She can be rehomed in central and northern Italy. Please can somebody give her a forever home. She’s so beautiful ♥️

Today we took Gemma and my Aunty and Uncle to the beach at San Benedetto. We had a lovely picnic then a walkies along the beach almost to Abruzzo. It’s free to stay at the moment but there are charges in June, July, August and September (see the sign!). It’s one of my favourite places. And the humans said their Sicilian gelato was really good. A great spot to camp overnight if you are hiking in our Sibillini National Park. So many trails to choose from and great restaurants nearby too!

The boats 🚤 ⛵️🚤⛵️are coming to my favourite lake!

SAILBOAT COMPETITION ON LAKE SAN RUFFINO
May 6th & 7th, 2023

The annual snipe-class sailboat regatta returns to Lake San Ruffino, a lake lying between, and shared by, Amandola and Monte San Martino. The land event takes place on the shores of Monte San Martino. For those of you who are not familiar with Lake San Ruffino, it is a picturesque area surrounded by rolling farmlands and, in the background, the imposing Sibillini Mountain range. While enjoying the sailboat competition, you can also enjoy the location by having a picnic on the meticulously-kept lawns or by strolling along the shoreline in order to savour the flora and fauna. You will also find stands selling local products and crafts. An added asset are the two well-respected restaurants available to you: the “Osteria del Lago” (for reservations, call Luciana 0733 660477 or 339 8456083) and the “Trattoria Vecchio Moro” (for reservations, call 380 2901880).

Consider visiting the surrounding towns. The Pinacoteca (Painting Gallery) of Monte San Martino with its artistic treasures is open on both Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. For visits outside this time frame, please call 331 2314715 or 331 231 4718. The Museum of Natural Science in Smerillo is open on both Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. For more information, call 328 9455977. If you wish to visit the anthropogeographic museum or learn about any event in Amandola, please contact 0736 840731.

This year there are two intriguing novelties: the “Nighttime Regatta” on Saturday at 9:00 P.M. which will prove to be a memorable occasion and the “Concert of Javier Girotto” on Sunday at 6:30 P.M. in the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie in Monte San Martino. This church is renown for its aesthetic beauty and for its frescoes dating back to the 1500s. Javier Girotto, an Italian-Argentinian, is both a saxophone and a flute player as well as a composer and an arranger. His repertoire includes tango, jazz, classical music and Argentinian folklore music. You will be enchanted by his talent. This concert is free of charge but you must book on the website of Eventbrite: eventbrite.it. To complete this experience, enjoy a pre-concert aperitif at Bar Jodalido 0733 1680112 or 339 8620240 or, after the concert, a scrumptious supper at Ristorante Dei Priori 0733 660209 or 338 5995723, both of which are located in the historical centre of Monte San Martino.

These two fun-filled days are a great way to kick off the summer season!

Our sunshine has returned and it’s fantastic to be out exploring again. Wet dogs and muddy paws don’t always go down too well. I just don’t get why humans don’t like mud! So it was great to see the waterfalls are gushing after the rain. This time we walked up and up to the Abbadia San Salvatore near Casalicchio. So beautiful up in the woods 42.976129, 13.303342

Pesaro is a lovely city in northern Marche and it has been voted Cultural Capital for 2024. There is lots to see and do and there is even a camper stop 15 minutes walk from the centre. Pesaro is right on the beach too. So fun for all the family. The camper stop is €10 per day off peak and €15 peak times. Electricity is charged extra.

Another fascinating place to visit is San Ginesio just up the road from us. There is a lovely free camper stop and great views very close to the entrance to the town. You even have free camper service (water and waste drop) and free electricity connection! There is also a playground for children and dog walking area, barbecue and two wooden tables. 8 pitches are available with a fairly level gravel base.

The village is declared among the most beautiful in Italy and is definitely worth a visit even if the 2016 earthquake did some damage here which is still very visible today.

The Templar Knights were here and you can see lots of evidence in the Church. There is even a book written all about them!

The other day, my Mum and Dad took me to the beautiful city of Ascoli Piceno, just down the road. Did you know it’s actually older than Rome? There is lots of travertine marble and piazza is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

You must come and visit the special place. It’s not too big to get around for those who can’t walk too far or are getting on in their years. It’s easy to park in the big underground car park and it’s only €1 an hour. Mum and dad love having a gelato at Yoghi! And there are many lovely restaurants to choose from. Lorenz Ristorante in the Piazza del Popolo is great too and Da Cecco do a fantastic set lunchtime menu.

If you have a campervan, you can stop it right in town. It’s just a few minutes walk to the centre and is €3 overnight from 9 pm to 8 am.

As you know by now, I live in Amandola, and I also live in a campervan! We are very lucky that The Comune of Amandola has set up a lovely camper stop where you can walk into town easily up the hill in just a few minutes. There are lovely views and a waste drop, and it’s all free! And they are even building us a better one too! Grazie Comune di Amandola.

These are my Sibillini Mountains. Aren’t they amazing? I love going for walkies up there with Mum and Dad. Some of the really high up walks do not allow us doggies unfortunately as there are lots of wild animals like capriolo, deer and even a bear, but l would never chase them anyway! You can ask in the Tourist Office which walks we are allowed on. Mum and Dad have lots of walking books too which you can borrow.

Just in front of the mountains is my home of Città di Amandola. It’s such a pretty place and lovely to explore. After wondering around the cobbled streets, you can have an ice cream or coffee and sit in the piazza watching the world go by.

Well I certainly landed on my paws when my Mum and Dad found me in the dog home in Sicily. They came to visit me and instantly I just loved them. I’m very shy as some people used to shoo me away when I lived in the streets but I didn’t want Mum and Dad to leave me behind.

They told me they had to go as first I had to have a little operation and some injections. But in a few weeks we would see each other again. Even the lovely ladies who looked after me in the canile were crying. They were so happy for me to be going to my new lovely home.

As soon as I was better, I was allowed to travel in a big van with lots of other lucky pups going to their new forever homes. After several hours I arrived in this amazing magical place called Marche. I am one very lucky puppy as Mum and dad have a big farmhouse with lots of land and gardens where I can run around. I’m so happy to be here it’s so much better than living on the streets in Alcamo.

So if you have a furry friend, you too can come and stay with us and enjoy lots of walkies. We live right near a famous walk called the Camino Francescano della Marca. It goes a long way. In fact all the way from Ascoli Pacino to Assisi and we are going to walk the whole lot a bit by bit.

We have lots of other walks in our beautiful countryside directly from my house.
