Rainy Days don’t have to leave you bored. If you have access to a car the new Muse Science Museum in Trento is well worth a visit. Just 40mins drive north this museum was opened in the summer of 2023 and boosts modern interactive exhibits for the family, an incredible collection of life like animal models and breathtaking butterflies in its Tropical House. Recommended! Even on a sunny day as a way to escape the heat for a few hours.

Need to burn off the pasta, pizza and gelato calories? Arco has many options for bicycle hire. Choose a mountain bike, city bike or even an electric bike and then decide if you go south towards Lake Garda or north through the Valle del Sarca as shown. The route is made up almost entirely of safe, car free cycle paths and takes in breathtaking mountain and river views, meanders through vineyards and olive trees and through a protected natural reserve. Get all the way to the town and Sarche and back and you have racked up nearly 40km. Time for another well earned gelato.

View from behind the 'rock. Arco's rock and castle are so often photographed from the front.
But there is a beautiful view from behind too.
Take a stroll north out of Arco to check out some of the sheer climbing rock faces and take the scenic route back to town, off the road and on the initial rocky paths at the foot of the mountains. An easy 30-40 min round trip from depending on how fast you fancy to take your day.

New in 'What's to do Around Arco' - Monte Baldo. The one and only place around Garda from which you can see the whole 51.9km of the lake from Sirmione in the south, to Riva in the north. Travel to Malcesine and take the cable car up 1800m to feel on top of the world. A not to miss experience from Muri di Arco as your base. Contact us for top tips on how to make the most of this particular day out. Head back down the mountain and finish your day with a walk around beautiful Malcesine. In focus for today’s What’s to do Around Arco, Riva del Garda. At just 5km from Arco, Riva is in easy reach by car, bike or bus. Riva is the town at the northern most point of Lake Garda. Relax in the sunshine on the lakeside ‘beach’, stroll the pedestrianised streets, take part in some water sports and take the panoramic lift up to the Bastion for beautiful views back down onto the town and over the lake. Stop for a drink with a vista at the Venetian Tower. You can even see back to Arco and its Rock. Btw did I say that as a guest at Muri di Arco you get access to the bus for free with our guest card. Relax and forget the stress of parking in the town 🤩

Introducing a little more as to what’s to do around Arco and beyond. In focus for today, climbing ‘The Rock’. You can’t miss The Rock from the town centre and a trip to Arco wouldn’t be complete without a stomp up the hill to admire the view and to explore the ruined castle. The walk itself isn’t too challenging as the path meanders gradually upwards with plenty of places to stop and admire the vegetation and views along the way. There is a modern viewing platform about 1/2 way up with a gorgeous view over Arco’s main church. As you hit the castle grounds themselves there’s the chance of a free view and in summer, a place for a drink. Or you can pay the inexpensive castle entry fee and venture even further upwards to the heights of the castle to really get into the heart of its ruins and to feel its history.

Situated in the pedestrianised historical centre the town boosts plenty of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and climbing. And at just 5km from the northern part of Lake Garda, all the possibilities that the lake has to offer are within easy reach.
