Hat-trick for Cala Santa Lucia!
The twentieth Tuscan nursery is the third deposited in the coves of Santa Lucia. This is the probable third deposition of Elda, who seems to be in love, like us, with that magical cove, which unfortunately, however, due to erosion, no longer has the ecological and environmental conditions necessary to guarantee the development and hatching of the nests safely.
The suspicion that it is Elda is strong, mother turtle was in fact super punctual, laying after 13 days from the second nest, and our volunteers during the monitoring were able to identify her trace left on the sand.
The verification of the presence of the eggs was carried out by our scientific manager, who also carried out the translocation of the nest at the beach of Rimigliano, together with the other two from the same Caletta, on the evening of Wednesday, August 7.
Thanks to our patrol center in the area, composed of Silvia, Giulia, Letizia, Daniele, Stefano and Barbara.
Once again we sincerely thank Messrs. Nicoletta and Lindsay, of the Villa Caracciolo, and Messrs. Sandra, Daniela, Andrea, Patrizia and Paolo, who have always been available with our volunteers. Thanks to the Municipality of San Vincenzo, which welcomes the fourth nest of the season in the beautiful beach of Rimigliano and to the Municipality of Rosignano Marittimo, which, for the sake of small turtles, lets the nests go towards safer beaches.
