Sicily bis logbook - Day 8 📔

On our last day, we explored the heart of Catania accompanied by our local guide, Tita. The morning started in the San Berillo District, where colourful murals breathe new life into this historic quarter of the city. From there, we moved on to the bustling fish market, an authentic immersion in the sounds and smells of Catania.

After a free lunch - many chose the renowned Prestipino Caffè - we gathered for an exclusive visit to the city’s last Pupi Siciliani workshop, discovering the secrets of the ancient tradition of puppetry.

In the evening, a farewell dinner brought us together to toast the wonderful moments of this unforgettable Sicilian adventure.

Sicily bis logbook - Day 7 📔

Today marked our journey back to Catania, with a beautiful stop in Modica, a gem of the Val di Noto region. Known for its Baroque churches and renowned chocolate production, Modica welcomed us with the rich aromas of the Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, where we enjoyed a tasting of their famous chocolate—a sweet tribute to the town’s heritage.

Afterward, Francesca led us on a short walking tour of Modica’s historic heart, immersing us in the unique atmosphere of this enchanting place. Lunch followed, giving us one last taste of Modica before setting off again.

By mid-afternoon, we arrived in Catania and checked into the lovely Hotel Palazzo S. Giorgio. After a bit of free time to settle in, we regrouped for a special evening. A private tour awaited us at Palazzo Biscari, led by a member of the noble family, offering us an exclusive glimpse into one of Catania’s most illustrious residences.

The evening concluded with dinner at leisure, providing time to savor our last night in Sicily.

Sicily bis logbook - Day 6 📔

Our day began in the heart of the Vittoria wine region with a visit to a sustainable cheese factory, where cows graze freely and production methods are eco-friendly. Here, we tasted exquisite Ragusano and Modicano DOP cheeses, offering a delicious insight into Sicilian traditions.

Next, we headed to Arianna Occhipinti’s winery, where we had a beautiful wine tasting set against the backdrop of vineyards that epitomize the natural beauty of the region. We then enjoyed a delightful lunch at Baglio Occhipinti, soaking in the rustic charm and flavors of Sicilian cuisine. Our final winery of the day was COS, where the team showed us their rare technique of aging wines in terracotta jars, a tradition nearly lost to time.

Back in Ragusa Ibla, our guide Francesca led us on a moonlit walk, including a stop at the Cinabro workshop to marvel at the intricate art of Sicilian “carretti.” We wrapped up this memorable day with a delightful dinner at Osteria Imperfetta.

Sicily bis logbook - Day 5 📔

Today, we delved into the enchanting Val di Noto. After breakfast, we started with a visit to an ancient water mill, where we admired its traditional mechanisms, still in action after centuries. Our next stop was the serene Tenuta La Favola, a beautiful estate managed by the Gurrieri family for four generations. Set at the southern tip of Sicily with views stretching to the sea, we toured the cellars and tasted their wines, paired with a light lunch.

In the afternoon, we continued to Noto, where Francesca, our local guide, led us through the town’s splendid Baroque streets, rich with history and charm. Later, back in Ragusa Ibla, we had the pleasure of a private visit to the Arezzo di Trifiletti family palace, with Domenico Arezzo himself guiding us through his ancestral home. We ended the day with an aperitif in this elegant setting.

Today we set off for Syracuse, immersing ourselves in another UNESCO World Heritage pearl of Sicily. Our journey began with a visit to the Neapolis Archaeological Park, where our guide Carmine led us through incredible sights such as the famous Ear of Dionysus, a unique limestone cave with impressive acoustics.

From there, we continued to the island of Ortigia for a stroll through its bustling food market, full of colours, aromas and authentic Sicilian life. After a delicious lunch, where we ate the products we saw at the market, we embarked on the scenic drive to Ragusa Ibla.

Sicily bis logbook - Day 3 📔

Today we explored the charm of Taormina, starting with a scenic drive to this beautiful town. Our guide Agata led us on a fascinating tour through Taormina’s winding streets, including a visit to the incredible Greek-Roman Theater, carved directly into Mount Ta**us in the 3rd century B.C. The theater’s views of the coast and Mount Etna were simply breathtaking.

To round off the Taormina experience, Lisa treated us to a delicious cannolo tasting at a local spot in the historic center—a sweet taste of Sicily that everyone enjoyed!

In the afternoon, we headed to Malopasso Winery, where we were warmly welcomed by owners Floriana and Pasquale. After exploring the picturesque property, we enjoyed a wine tasting and a light lunch featuring their finest wines.

Back at the hotel, we had a little time to rest before gathering for dinner at Osteria ai Marinai, a perfect end to a memorable day.

Sicily bis logbook - Day 2 📔

Today our tour took us to one of the most iconic places in Sicily: Mount Etna. After breakfast, we met in the hotel lobby, where Tita, our local guide, together with Lisa and Lindsay, were waiting for us to start this fantastic day.

On board our private minibus, we drove along scenic and somewhat winding roads to Piano Provenzana, about 1800 metres above sea level. Our walk allowed us to explore the dormant craters of Sartorius, enjoying breathtaking views in the crisp air that reminded us of the majesty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site 🌋.

In the afternoon, we reached the beautiful Val Cerasa winery, welcomed by owner Alice Bonaccorsi, who guided us through the vineyards and cellars for a tasting of her fine wines, accompanied by a light lunch.

Back at the hotel, we took some time to relax and prepare for dinner, which we enjoyed in the hotel restaurant, recommended by the Michelin Guide.

Sicily Bis Logbook - Day 1 📔

Welcome to Sicily! Today the group started to immerse themselves in the colours and scents of the island, with different activities to take advantage of the beautiful day.

Part of the group took part in the Godfather Tour, organised by Lilipans and accompanied by Tita, our local Sicilian guide. The tour took us to the iconic locations of the famous film, providing an authentic glimpse of some of the island’s most evocative landscapes, between history and cinema.

The others relaxed in the beautiful scenery of Aci Trezza, immersing themselves in the tranquil rhythms of this enchanting seaside village.

In the evening, the whole group met up to get to know each other better with Lisa, Tour Manager of Lilipans, and Lindsay, Sommelier Roscioli. It was the perfect moment to get acquainted with fellow travellers and review the tour itinerary, accompanied by a delicious Sicilian wine tasting and snacks.
