Posh Nosh and Promenades operates in Northern Lazio, a fantastic region quite off the usual tourist track, which has kept its individual character. Our base, Montefiascone, in the heart of Etruria, overlooks Lake Bolsena and is home to the pre Roman Etruscan civilization. The region is renowned for its volcanic lakes, mountains, gorges, olive groves and vineyards as well as wonderful local produ
ce. It is an area of immense historic and artistic interest with a wealth of fascinating places to visit, many of them over 2,000 years old. Our walks combine gentle strolls through charming medieval towns, walking along Etruscan and Roman roads, through marvellous untamed countryside, through traditional farmlands with untold acres of ancient olive groves and vineyards, along bubbling brooks in search of historic masterpieces, as well as a contemplative walk along a section of the centuries old Francigena pilgrim route to the Holy City of Rome. Our cooking classes are held in the spacious kitchen of a typical old farmhouse built in the 1750s set in a beautiful big garden. Classes include both traditional and gourmet cuisine, using wonderfully fresh local products, creating dishes that can easily be reproduced in your own home. The emphasis is on simplicity, quality and presentation. We guarantee hands-on cooking instruction. Tastings of local wine and cheese production are included.
