The 2025 Jubilee, themed "Pilgrims of Hope," has begun with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica. This Holy Year is expected to draw millions of pilgrims to Rome.

A notable aspect of this Jubilee is the planned canonization of Carlo Acutis, a 15-year-old known as "God's influencer," who will become the first millennial saint.

The Jubilee Year will continue until January 6, 2026, offering numerous events and opportunities for the faithful.

Unlocking History: The Ritual of the Holy Door

The Recognitio is a deeply symbolic tradition marking the start of the Jubilee. Weeks before the opening of the Holy Door, a ritual unseals the wall enclosing it since the last Jubilee. Inside lies a sealed metal box containing the key to unlock the Holy Door, commemorative medals, and other sacred objects. This ceremony ensures the integrity of the Holy Door and culminates with the Pope symbolically opening it, ushering in the Jubilee celebrations.

This ritual isn't limited to St. Peter's Basilica—it also takes place at major basilicas across Rome, like St. John Lateran and St. Paul Outside the Walls.

Exciting update from Rome! The beautiful fountain in front of the Pantheon has been fully restored just in time for the Vatican's Jubilee Year 2025. The restoration included cleaning, waterproofing, and repair of the metal and stucco, bringing back its original charm. The fountain has now reopened and is ready for all to enjoy!
