📍Hofbräuhaus, Munich
Coming back to Munich! Our wevelers Alex sent us this video from before the pandemic.
The Hofbräuhaus am Platzl is a beer hall in Munich, Germany.
It was founded in 1589 after William V, Duke of Bavaria, decided to import beer from Saxony, as he found the local one to taste too bad. ✌
On the ground floor is the Schwemme, the most popular hall as well as the vital centre of the Hofbräuhaus: frescoed vaults, long solid wood tables, orchestras and waiters in perfect Bavarian style ...and of course the beer, rivers of lager! The atmosphere is always very cheerful and lively. On the first floor are the quietest and most elegant rooms, while on the second floor the large party hall offers music and dance shows in the evening. You can also eat and drink outside in the beer garden.
Regular customers have the honour of having their own private ceramic mug, kept in good view on the ground floor. 😝
Attention! Tipping is not mandatory in Bavaria but it is customary to tip if you are satisfied with the service. That's roughly 8% -10% of the bill.
👣 You can reach the Hofbräuhaus very easily by walking in the city centre: you won't miss it!

📍Berliner Fernsehturm
Are you tuned in? 🤩
Why? But it's simple! Because this is the television tower in central Berlin, precisely a few steps from Alexander Platz.
Was constructed between 1965 and 1969 by the government of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). It remains a landmark today, visible throughout the central and some suburban districts of Berlin.
368 metres of height
Thanks to our wevelers @skymusicproject for the video!

La Fenice Theater, Venice, Italy
.
Let's dedicate ourselves again today to the richness of the entertainment world by continuing our walk through Venice, approaching Piazza San Marco. Here we can find the magnificent "La Fenice" theater!
.
Let's make a small parenthesis of its history. The theater was inaugurated in 1792 following a competition in which various projects were requested, with precise precautions, among which that of Giannantonio Selva was then chosen.
.
The very name given to the theater was then focal in its history. The phoenix, in fact, is a mythological animal that dies by catching fire and then is reborn from its own ashes. Both in 1836 and 1996, the building was subject to fire before being built again.
.
Inside the theater hides an artistic richness that leaves you speechless, among the statues of great personalities, such as Goldoni and Rossini, the sculptural works representing Dance and Music, but not only. In fact, inside there are both the Apollinea room, conceived by Selva, and the Theater room. The latter has a capacity of one thousand and five hundred spectators and is decorated with stuccoes, painted panels and gold carvings and completely restored in 1936.
.
In fact, however, the theater that you can see today is practically a copy of 2003, the result of the restorations after 1996. Speaking of which, if you want to see the "original" theater, we recommend that you see "Senso", a 1954 film by Luchino Visconti!
.
Furthermore, in the theater there is also a permanent exhibition dedicated to Maria Callas!
.
Enjoy your travel!

Where is it? in Stalettì, a small village overlooking the splendid Ionian Sea!
Given the difficult period we are all experiencing, Ester has decided to leave you a sweet recipe, belonging to the "Traditional foods around the world" section. So today we offer you “Bussolai” or “Buranei” biscuits, whose name recalls the island from which they come, the colorful Burano!
Today you can find them mostly in the shape of "s", but originally they had a donut shape. From here derives their first typical name: Bussolai. Why? Because in Venetian dialect the word "hole" is called "buso"!
According to legends, these delicious sweets were prepared by the wives of fishermen and sailors, who, once they left for their long sea voyages, took large quantities of them! This is because they keep very well and are very nutritious! Over time they began to be produced and sold.
Being very sugary biscuits it is said that they conquered many people, including the Sisters of San Maffio, who had to order to consume less! Where was the problem? That the convent was located in the area where the greatest production of Buranei biscuits took place 🙂!
Here is the recipe:
500 gr of flour
300 gr of sugar
150 gr of diced butter
a few drops of vanilla extract
a little bit of lemon zest (which Ester has not added for personal pleasure)
1 whole egg
5 yolks (keep the whites for excellent omelettes or pancakes!)
1 pinch of salt
mix everything together, make small rolls about as thick as a finger and about 10cm long, fold them to obtain "s" and then cook them in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 25 minutes!
Enjoy your meal!
