We loved Villa Emma!
- very beautiful house decorated in a traditional but charming way
- beautiful grounds
- superb pool and well enclosed for children’s safety
- many outdoor places to dine / have an aperitif
- excellent availability and responsiveness of the janitor to deal with day-to-day issues and suggest restaurants and shops
- perfect positioning of the villa with magnificent towns, lake, vineyards... all less than an hour’s drive away.

The castle used to belong to Italo Balbo who, as the Air Force minister for the Kingdom of Italy, flew over his property and noticed that the shape of the coastal promontory was similar to that of an airplane wing, thus it was named Punta Ala (literally wing point).

The Golf Club Punta Ala is similarly famous: with its 18 hole golf course it is judged to be one of the best in Europe, not just from a technical point of view but also in terms of landscape, thanks to its spectacular position with the sea in front and the beautiful maquis shrubland behind.

Craco is a ghost town and comune in the Province of Matera, in the southern Italian region of Basilicata. The old town was abandoned due to natural disasters. The abandonment has made Craco a tourist attraction and a popular filming location. In 2010, Craco has been included in the watch list of the World Monuments Fund.
