This Sunday, Jan 8th, we'll start a new unmissable series of Virtual Experiences about Michelangelo Buonarroti: TUTTO MICHELANGELO! BOOK Below (link in comments)
TUTTO MICHELANGELO
The Early Years: The Birth of a Genius
Born in the mountains of the Casentino region in Tuscany to a Florentine Noble, Michelangelo showed since childhood incredible talent. We will follow his beginnings as a painter first and then as a sculptor, and his training and cultural growth under the patronage of Lorenzo de’ Medici in Renaissance Florence.
Michelangelo Buonarroti is certainly one of the most influential artists ever and a true symbol of the Renaissance. Part of the success of Michelangelo as an artist, besides his incredible talent, was the fact that unlike most of the artists of the XV and XVI century, he was highly cultivated and well-versed in Philosophy, Poetry, and other more intellectual fields. Strangely to us moderns, artists in the renaissance were considered a little bit more than artisans, and they identified themselves with their craft rather than the intellectual and aesthetic values of their art. the "message" that they conveyed in their art was ultimately not theirs, but their patrons or the Church ideas, being translated into statues, paintings and buildings. Michelangelo was a real "game changer" by subverting the order of the Patron/Artist relationship and originating the idea that the artist created "Beauty" under an existential need, rather than as a way of making a living.
This Sunday then we will follow Michelangelo's first steps into the art world, in the context of Medicean Florence, the very crib of the Renaissance. If you haven't booked your virtual space you can still do it till tomorrow at 8 pm, please note that This Virtual Tours Series is only available as a Package of 4 Virtual Tours for a total of 60 euros.

CARAVAGGIO IN ROME: CARDINALS & COURTESANS
After few years of irregular life and work, Michelangelo Merisi managed to enter the patronage of the Cardinal Francesco Maria Bourbon del Monte Santa Maria (we’ll simply call him Del Monte) who hosted Caravaggio in the Palazzo Madama and introduced him to the Palazzo Giustiniani cultural circle and to many other important patrons. Working in the workshop of the Cavalier D’Arpino was instead the event that kickstarted his career as a painter of “public” artworks for the roman churches, not all of these were a success as some were considered inappropriate for his striking realistic style, and as well the abundant use of well-known Courtesans, or high-end escorts, as models for madonnas and saints made his works sometimes questionable when not scandalous. But, when Caravaggio finally dominate the Roman art scene with several followers and admires, until things took a bad turn.
