Hi, my name is DINO, I'm a Roman born-and-bred, experienced and qualified Tourist Guide, graduated "cum laude" in Arts, Ph. D in History from the main University of Rome and member of the Rome's Guide's Association. My tours can last from three hours up to a full day and the PRICE depends on duration, it's not per person but PER GROUP, this mean for 1 or 10 clients the cost is the SAME! The vast m

ajority of my tours are walking tours cause I love to show you sights, as charming squares or picturesque alleys, that you won't see on the tour bus, with me only PERSONAL TOURS! On request I can hire a private driver/luxury and air-conditioned van, it's the easier and a prefered method to discover Rome but more costly than various taxi rides. For the "CRUISE VISITORS": I've arranged a "VIP treatment" shore excursion including my services as a certified tourist guide and a luxury van with a professional driver (pick up and drop off at your ship). MY AIM IS:

- to make you in contact with the enchanting beauty of this wonderful city so that you'll have fond memories of the Eternal City!

- to make your trip a joyous, memorable and unforgettable experience. D my guided tours are not "historic conferences"; I'm an knowledgeable, professional but also easy going, friendly and flexible guide and I believe that people during holidays also want to have fun, to discover new interesting things about the city, to enjoy a delicious and fabulous ice-cream, to taste an italian wine, the "amatriciana" or "carbonara", or to take the best italian coffee. Do not forget you are in vacations, having fun is a must! Don't' hesitate to contact me with your individual requirements to design your own perfect Rome tour! I would love, that when leaving Rome, you'll love the city and appreciate its wonders as much as I do.

This morning, I had the great pleasure of exploring the stunning frescoes in the House of Livia, the wife of Augustus, with a wonderful couple from Uzbekistan. This first-century BC domus on Rome's Palatine Hill has recently reopened after an extensive restoration, revealing its ancient beauty once again.

👉 9 March in Rome is the anniversary of the death of the Santa Francesca Romana (1384-1440) and on this occasion the Monastery of the benedictine oblate sisters of St. Francesca Romana at "Tor de' Specchi" - located in the heart of Rome, near to the imposing ruins of the Theater of Marcello - opens to the public.

The oratory is decorated with 15th-century frescoes (1468). They consist of 25 scenes and are the work of an anonymous painter, perhaps belonging to the workshop of Antoniazzo Romano.

The majestic theater of Marcellus is one of most impressive but strangely also underrated landmarks of Ancient Rome.

🔶️ You can think that the facade looks so familiar with an other "iconic symbol" of Rome and you are not wrong because it served as a model for the Colosseum, built many decades later (72 AD, inaugurated in 80 AD). The theater was inaugurated in 13BC or 11BC, 93 years before that one of the Colosseum!! 😲

🔷️ Julius Caesar actually started the project but it was inaugurated by Emperor Augustus who named it after his nephew Marcus Claudius Marcellus, intended heir before his unexpected death in 23BC.

📖 In the middle ages the theater fell into disuse and it was turned, like many other buildings from antiquity, into a fortress by the Fabi family in the 12th century, then passed to the Pierleoni family and later the Savelli family in the 14th century removed the upper tier of seating and employed Baldassare Peruzzi to turn it into apartments. Further alterations took place in the 18th century by the new owners, the Orsini family; the building is now know as the Palazzo Orsini.

🔎 This imposing building of the Imperial Rome is still waiting to be discovered by genuine history or architecture buffs 😊

🔸️Located a few steps from Piazza Navona, the Museum of Palazzo Altemps houses an extraordinary collection of sculptures in a magnificent architectural setting. This is certainly a museum that is not to be missed.

🔹️ The Dying Gaul (Galata Suicida), which alone is worth visiting the museum for, is a poignant work portraying a warrior who chooses death for himself and his wife, rather than humiliation by the enemy
