Augusto, the cat of the Colosseum.
End of a very hot day for the cat, too.

You can normally see it at around 7 pm, on the ground floor of the monument, when it is time to eat and there are less people around.

Have you seen Augustus the cat during your Colosseum tour?

Aperitivo in the Castelli Romani

Pastrami and Lambrusco di Sorbara, refermented in bottle.

Such a lovely place to chill out, with an interesting selection of conventional and natural wines by the glass!

“When there is plenty of wine, sorrow and worry take wing” - Ovid

Ciao! My name is Francesca and I am a qualified tour guide of Rome. I have been giving tours for over 10 years, I have a background in Archaeology and I am a certified AIS sommelier.

I love reading, travelling and I am the busy mum of a young teen girl. My passions are history, art, healthy homemade food...and of course wine. Years ago my grandpa, a very poor peasant from Umbria (Norcia, hometown of St. Benedict and worldwide famous for black truffles and salami), used to bring me in his small cellar, where he had two small barrels (now I know they were two barriques). I think I was 8 or 9, but I still remember the smell of his wine that slowly came out of the barrel tube: it was pure magic to me. Those smells and those slow gestures still amaze me.

Every time I smell and sip a glass of wine the magic happens again.

Born and raised in Rome, the eternal city, I have been living in the area of the Frascati Superiore DOCG for nearly 14 years, just a few minutes away from the volcanic Lake of Nemi.
