Full immersion Masterclass in Directing with top international film.
International Filmmaking Academy brings together a select group of emerging talents to a two weeks Masterclass held in Bologna, Italy, taught by some of the world's leading auteurs. Previous editions Master Teachers: Bernardo Bertolucci, Abbas Kiarostami, Béla Tarr, Danis Tanovic, Cristian Mungiu, Jane Campion and others. IFA promotes each director’s own talent in an environment of freedom, with t
he goal of helping to form a future generation of film auteurs. The IFA Master Teachers share their knowledge and experience while simultaneously responding to each talent’s personal history and aesthetic identity.

International Filmmaking Academy di Bologna cerca attori e attrici per la produzione di sette cortometraggi realizzati a Bologna durante l’IFA Masterclass in Filmmaking.
I cortometraggi sono realizzati da un gruppo selezionato di filmmaker provenienti da tutto il mondo, guidati dall’acclamato regista Andrey Zvyagintsev: Master Teacher di IFA 2024, vincitore del Mostra del Cinema di Venezia (2003) e del Festival di Cannes (2011, 2014, 2017), due volte candidato all’Academy Awards e ai BAFTA Awards.
Tutti i cast artistici saranno supervisionati dal maestro Zvyagintsev. Per partecipare è necessario inviare CV e video di presentazione con WeTransfer a [email protected]

A Celebration of Restored Cinema: Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna
Bologna, a city for cinema, comes alive each year with , one of the most important festivals in the world dedicated to classics restored films. This event showcases around 500 movies and workshops across historic cinema locations throughout the city.
Founded in 1986, Il Cinema Ritrovato is an annual film festival organized every summer by Cineteca di Bologna in Italy. The festival is dedicated to the history of cinema, screening film classics and retrospectives, and showcasing the latest restored works from cinematographic archives and film laboratories worldwide. This festival hosted legends like Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and the most important figures & specialists from the cinema world.
A special highlight is the nightly open-air screenings at Piazza Maggiore, the historic center of Bologna, where thousands of cinephiles gather under the twinkling celestial canopy of moonlight and stars with live orchestra 🎻.

International Filmmaking Academy is pleased to announce: Ruben Östlund is our Honorary President!
In the past 10 years, the Academy has been hosting the great personalities of contemporary cinema: Bernardo Bertolucci, Abbas Kiarostami, Danis Tanovic, Béla Tarr, Cristian Mungiu, Claudia Llosa, Jane Campion, John Landis.
IFA is now ready to take another leap in quality with Ruben Östlund, as he becomes our Honorary President, after his experience as Master Teacher of summer 2023.
Our aim is to be the world's leading center for the future generation of film artisans.
Östlund is one of the most influential film auteurs of our time. His movies are known for their controversial humor, which aims at showing human behavior through the particular dilemmas of the characters.
His films challenge audiences to question themselves.
This is exactly what IFA asks of its emerging talents: to push their limits in order to find their authentic power and the highest expression of their art.

We are delighted to have had director with us as Master Teacher 2023. His dedication and professionalism in guiding the selected young talents in the making of their short films and in the discovery of their poetic identity have been and will always be unforgettable.
We want to thank all the people involved in the realization of this year's Masterclass: the Master Teacher, the students, the partners and all the staff… Each one of them really put their soul into it.
We hope that the students will carry this experience in their hearts, forever remembering the teachings of the great director, the friendships that have been formed, the beautiful city of Bologna and maybe… even us! 🎉

Between a guided tour at the museum and a set visit, the evening ended with the screening of the 'The Square' in the suggestive bolognese atmosphere of Piazza Maggiore in occasion of Il Cinema Ritrovato festival.

Our Story
International Filmmaking Academy brings together a select group of graduate and a last year undergraduate filmmaking students from the world's finest film schools to a summer program in Bologna, Italy, in a master class taught by some of the world's leading filmmakers.
IFA promotes each student’s own talents in an environment of freedom with the goal of helping to form a future generation of film auteurs. The IFA Master Teachers share their knowledge and experience with the students while simultaneously responding to each student’s personal history and artistic practice.
