The ‘naturally aspirated’ rig for the season looking the part up in the Backcountry. The Mullet has been proving excellent in the steep terrain we have here, with the mixed wheels keeping support and grip up front and the rear playful and agile. And of course those haven’t skipped a beat. The components are slightly bling for the job but have been robbed from older bikes, and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it…! Best bike by far I’ve guided on

After a few weeks of unsettled weather and dodging storms surprisingly well, the sun is now finally here to stay. Our recent backcountry adventure tours have given some really memorable moments already, but the views and scenery we got last week were pretty special even by our mountains standards!

Winter camps in Elba and Calci have already come to an end and that time has just flown by. We are now back at our main location and underway with our summer tours, but here’s a look back at the last 5 weeks of sun, sea, bikes and a fair bit of partying! A big thanks to everyone who came, and to for all the help. We are already looking forward to next years trips! 📸

And that’s a wrap. Testing and trail clearing is done and the season is underway. We have a whole host of new holidays with a packed out year ahead of us to look forward to. Some winter camps underway right now, then Elba, before settling back into our main adventure trips here in the Garfagnana.

We have been quiet here in the past weeks, but this doesn’t mean there wasn’t much going on – rather the opposite! We have been gearing up for 2023 with loads to come:

We have developed some exciting new packages that will allow you to experience all our highlights and different riding locations in one multi-centered trip.
We have incorporated the beautiful island of Elba as a new destination into our offer and will test this package with a few groups this year.

E-Bike holidays are here! After many years of developing the routes for all things electric, we are kicking off our trips this year and almost a third of our bookings are for E-Bike trips. We have a fleet of Santa Cruz Hecklers ready to test for these weeks if you cant fly with one, thanks to our partners

After three years of digging and fun bureaucratic stuff, we will finally open our Park early summer – an E-Bike dedicated open access bike park in the National Park of the Orecchiella.

And last but not least we wanted to share the news with you guys that we did it! We had a sneaky wedding at a wonderful beach in Costa Rica and are looking forward to celebrate this with you guys with a glass of vino when you are out here.

We haven’t come around to update our website with the new packages yet. But if you want to know more, get in touch with us. The year is looking pretty damn good, and there are only a few weeks left to book.

Today we did our end of season test run with the locals before we make the final adjustments to the PayDirt Park, our areas first ever bike park and free open access trail center. Then the grand opening next year in spring..! We can’t wait to show everyone around

The contrast in todays ride in the Apennines with the autumn blueberry fields starting to show compared to the rugged coastal mountains is incredible considering how close both mountain ranges are to each other

An amazing start to the second half of the season with Team America (F**k yeahhh!!). It was 3 years in the making after delays due to our old friend Covid, but they came, they rode and they partied their way all over our trail network. A truly unforgettable week, and thanks a million to Nate for the excellent photos and for .bike.ski and for making it happen again

Descending into one of the remote mountain rifugios as part of our Backcountry Center Based Tours this spring to spend the night overlooking the Mediterranean coastline of Massa Carrara. It’s an amazing part of the tour and certainly worth the hike a bike over the Via Vandelli to reach it. Knowing that you will be riding all the way down singletrack to the beach the next day definitely adds to the experience! Thanks for the great hospitality!

Over the last month we have been so lucky to have the local crew volunteering every weekend to help clear our Spider Mointain trails as part of our project. As a thank you we put on lunches, beer and a free shuttle service with a test bike offer…. And more beer of course!! Thank you so much to the local team!!!!

Our PayDirt project has spanned over 2 seasons now and we are finally coming to the end of our long build projects and new integrated cycle tourism network for our area all to give a new public open access free trail service for years to come. The final construction work for the upcoming PayDirt Park public access e-bike trail center has seen us work with some incredible people. Here is a short clip of us using traditional wire techniques to move sustainably processed wood through the forest. In keeping with our sustainability goals, the wood was from fallen trees from last years snow storm. We have used what was fallen and moved it through the forest where our bike park is situated with this technique so we can build the wooden structures like bridges and northshore sections. The fallen tree massacre continues! It’s taking some time but we are finally starting to see the light at the end of the trails now. This is the Isola Santa trail for those who know. An amazing 12km descent to an ancient village perched on a lake that’s starts all the way over on the coastal side. I think we counted just over 100 fallen tree points like this along the way that we have now cut through on this trail alone...... thank god for the #paydirtfund #missingcovidcraig
