Red and blue: Loceri is a village of 1278 inhabitants,it is situated on the rolling hills of vineyards, olive groves, cork and evergreen Mediterranean foliage, at the foot of Mount Taré, with it's beautiful red porphyry rocks with unusual shapes that give rise to the fantastic characters of "Perdu Coitta" and "Mariancani" and of stories of our ancestors. Loceri is located in the central part of
Sardinia, Ogliastra, the smallest province in Italy and for us the most beautiful, just ten minutes from the beautiful beach of Cea, where shades of blue Sardinian sea and the redness of the rocks and it's unusual features that emerge from the waters of the landscape that are unique to our part of the world. In the center of the Loceri Village, between the square of the church and the town is an ancient tree of "Sogargia" Under it's generous shadow it hosts the talk of the elderly who gather there daily, there is a monument to remember the hero's of the war, which is not far from the birthplace of Sergeant Major Ferdinand Podda who obtained a medal in World War I. Celebrating l her 102nd birthday in April is Aunt Agnes Lai, the eldest locerese in the village,She lived in a time when men and women wore traditional costume in their every day lives. These traditional costume can still be seen at 'Fests' and Weddings that are regularly held in the village centre and on large murals in Loceri that recall the life of the past.
