🇬🇧️ The magical Castel del Monte

An ancient legend traces its origin to an inscription in an ancient temple. Here, according to tradition, there was a statue on whose head the following sentence was quoted: "My head is made of bronze but at sunrise it will be golden with the calendars of May". One day a Saracen resolved the arcane and the first day of May, at sunrise, he began to dig where the shadow of the statue fell, going back to an ancient and rich treasure, with which the castle was built.

Un’antica leggenda ne fa risalire l’origine a un’iscrizione riportata in un antico tempio. Qui, narra la tradizione, c’era una statua sul cui capo era riportata la seguente frase: “Il mio capo è di bronzo ma a levar del sole a calendi di maggio sarà d’oro”. Un giorno un saraceno risolse l’arcano e il primo giorno di maggio, al sorgere del sole, iniziò a scavare dove cadeva l’ombra della statua, risalendo a un antichissimo e ricchissimo tesoro, con il quale fu costruito il castello.

🇬🇧️ THE LEGEND OF THE SLOPE OF THE HARBOR IN POLIGNANO A MARE 🏝️

A story handed down from father to son, between fishermen and believers. A story that is still shrouded in mystery today.

It tells about a man of faith who went to Puglia divulging the gospel, but certainly we know he was a hermit. When he arrived in Polignano, the hermit saw the small island, no bigger than a large rock, with an almost invisible vegetation. The hermit recognized something familiar in this place like the rock, loneliness and contemplation, so he decided to live there.

Leaving for sea, the fishermen of that time often saw the hermit on his rock intent to pray or busy with other matters. Sometimes a fisherman landed the island to bring some fish or other essentials. The island did not offer much food and the fishermen worried about the survival of the hermit.

One day, however, one of these fishermen found the poor hermit died in a hurry of the island.

Today the island still shines its light and millions of tourists have been able to see it and enjoy its magic.

🇮🇹️ LA LEGGENDA DELLO SCOGLIO DELL'EREMITA DI POLIGNANO A MARE 🏝️

Una storia tramandata di padre in figlio, tra pescatori e credenti. Una storia che ancora oggi è avvolta dal mistero.

Si racconta di un uomo di fede che andava per la Puglia divulgando il vangelo ma di per certo si sa che fosse un eremita. Arrivato a Polignano l'eremita vide la piccola isola, non più grande di un grosso scoglio, con una quasi invisibile vegetazione. Lo scoglio, la solitudine, la cotemplazione. L'eremita riconobbe qualcosa di familiare in questo luogo e decise di viverci.

Partendo per il mare, i pescatori del tempo vedevano spesso l'eremita sul suo scoglio intento a pregare o indaffarato in altre faccende. Ogni tanto un pescatore approdava sull'isola per portare del pesce o altri generi essenziali. L'isola non offriva tanto cibo e i pescatori si preoccupavano per la sopravvivenza dell'eremita.

Un giorno però, proprio uno di questi pescatori trovò il povero eremita morto in un affratto dell'isola.

Oggi l'isola splende ancora della sua luce e milioni di turisti hanno potuto vederla ed assaporare la sua magia.
