The table was set, the food piled high,
Plates of delight that caught my eye.
Roast chicken, roast beef, and ham so sweet,
Rice and peas, oh, what a feast!

Sorrel in hand, the flavors burst,
I went back for seconds, couldn’t quench my thirst.
Potato salad, candied sweet potato and a slice of hard dough bread,
Stuffed my belly till it felt like jam.

The pound cake was rich, the fruitcake divine,
One more bite? Sure, I’ll be fine.
But now I’m stretched on the couch in a daze,
Regretting that third round of Christmas craze.

“Belly full,” I say, with a satisfied grin,
The aftermath of a holiday win.
Though I’m stuffed, my heart’s even fuller still,
For love, laughter, and food that always thrills.

The day after Christmas, Jamaica wakes,
Sunrise over hills, the ocean shakes.
No snow on the ground, just golden sand,
And warm, salty breezes across the land.

The ham and the sorrel, the cake well-shared,
Echoes of laughter show love was aired.
Families gather beneath the palm trees,
Sharing stories while swaying in the breeze.

The streets are quiet, but life still flows,
Music hums softly where the ackee grows.
Children run free under skies so blue,
Their carefree joy feels fresh and new.

No winter chill, just tropical grace,
Christmas in Jamaica—a special place.
The day after brings peace, calm, and cheer,
Setting the tone for a bright new year.
