Hi ALL.. I’ve been reading a few post on different sites about mosquitoes, hookworms, sand fleas and just some nasty holiday critters.. I actually work with tourists on a daily basis and hear some crazy stories.. so I’m gonna share a few things I do to stay away from critters..! These are my personal uses and tips, I’m not telling anyone to use or do as I do..
I always wear flip flops on the beach, those chilled areas of beach with shade are my worst fear, cause cats and dogs p**p there .. hello hookworm.. most places scrape the beach very early in the mornings so as the sun gets hot those nasties cook..! Many areas get forgotten.. so flip flops are always good to wear.. or water shoes for little kiddos. The shaded area are where the dogs and cats will crap in the sand and bury it.. the worms don’t die..!
Mosquitoes: there’s a really good natural product I’ve used for years, it’s Blue Mountain mosquitoe repellent, it’s got a nice smell and as I said it’s natural, so safe for the kiddos too.. works for me, my friends and family that visit and my guests too.. it’s only about $6 and it’s lasts for ages..
Works with sand fleas and mozzies , and it’s a nice leg oil too..
I ALWAYS DO A WORMING DOSE, when I come from any tropical place, pin worms are around, from the foods you eat ( not properly washed salads) or your kids playing in the sand and hands in the mouth.. it’s really a cheap saver, Walmart is like less than $10. im not saying you will get any, but I take a dose just Incase, the thought of them makes me gag lol
The sun DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE
She burns everyone, black, white , green or pink, please slap factor 70 on your kids, their skin is so delicate, I saw a little girl baking in the sun, there were blister forming .. so please cover them as many times in the day as you can.. and yourself too. USE aloe , there’s one sold in Berlingtons, Marshall’s and TJ max, it’s 100% pure aloe, and it really helps, it was about $5 , if you look around the body care shelf it’s there, just buy the pure one and you can’t go wrong..
Bring your little ones floaties, if they are under 5, they are super cheap, I’ve had parents on the catamarans that say their 4 year old can swim... well I’d say better be safe all the time and if they are playing in water, you can spot them easy if your floaties are nice and brightly colored .. you know the pinks and bright yellows...
Drink lots of WATER.. yeah boring on vacation I know, but if you are on the booze, and tanning.. trust me.. sunstroke/ heatstroke will hit you like a brick.. so water and sunblock are your besties on the beach 🏝
I know some will read this and think why post... everyone knows this.. but some people don’t know so please let them read without judgement and enjoy their holiday ... these are my personal hints and tips... have an amazing time in jamaica 🇯🇲 🏝🍸
