New Photo Frame has been installed at the ruins of Mikobata former mine and ore processing facility (神子畑選鉱場跡)

Designated as a national heritage site, it has a lot of history that forms part of the Road of Ores which is part of Japan's first industrialised roads during the Meiji period. As part of our Road of Ores tour you can too see this site and learn more about it's history.

The frame has a bicycle hanger. If you visit the site by your own bike, then feel free to take a complimentary photo of your trip.

Photo frame designed by from Asago Cycling. There are more photo frames and art works erected along the Road of Ores and Silver Carriage Road with plans to create more. Why not go find them all? 🚴🚴🚴

Special cycle tour for two brilliant people who are professional Japanese accupuncturist. During this tour I also learned a lot from them. It's amazing how even the silver from Ikuno mine made its way into traditional hand crafted accupuncture needles. So much history.

Asago_Cycling provided it's original created cycling tour for the ATS (Asago Travel & Stay packaged tours) FAM Trip in Ikuno town. Paired with accomodation at Ikuno Stay イクノステイ and other activities such as visiting a local farm to harvest fresh vegetables and eating dinner with the farmer and his wife who prepared delicious dinner from locally sourced ingredients including from their own farm.

It was a bit of a rainy day, but the weather provided unique lighting conditions that beautifully highlighted the natural scenery of the region. We were even lucky enough to see a rainbow and take some photos of it. Seeing the Bantan train up close was another unique experience for our guests.

Feedback was highly appreciated from the guests and I look forward to implement their advice in future tours. From next year Asago Cycling is looking forward to expand its horizons and services in other regions.

FAM Trip 2023/11/16 with in Asago.

Guests stayed at and the next morning we did the Road of Ores Cycling tour. From Ikuno to Mikobata and finally stopping at our Cycling Station.

A 30km tour that showcases some of the best the region has to offer. Mixed with history, great sightseeing, nature, food and culture. We had an enjoyable day together experiencing authentic Japan. Thank you for doing our tour.

October 30th. Asago Cycling assisted in Hyogo prefecture to lead a cycling tour for Taste Of Japan Bike Tours for their 5 Castle Tour.

For the visitors third day we took them from Ichikawa to Takeda in Asago. Following the Silver Carriage Road and Road of Ores, we stopped at various sightsering and historical locations along the way including Kamikawa, Ikuno and Asago towns.

2023 Road of Ores Cycling Autumn Festival. Part 2.

From Ikuno town we disembarked on the historical road of ores route to reach the Mikobata former ore processing plant and ruins. In between we passed through several towns and saw a various Mikoshi (Portable shrines) along the way.

Participants engaged with locals and a very kind community member invited us all to drink tea in her lovely home. Along the course, participants were introduced to remnants from Asago city's former mining industry such as the Habuchi cast iron bridge.

At Mikobata former ore processing facility, Yamauchi-san provided a detailed explanation of the history to everyone.

In Habuchi we were invited to watch Shishimai (Lion Dance) at a local shrine. We were given front row seats and felt very special. It was a great privilege.

Finally we stopped at our Cycling Station to enjoy conversation and coffee together.

Come and join our 2nd Autumn cycling event to cycle around Asago and enjoy this beautiful countryside town's autumn colours. This 29km ride will take you along “The Road of Ores”, where you’ll (re)discover Japan’s industrial past while enjoying the beauty and quietness of this rural area.

This event takes place on the same day as our town's local Autumn Festival. Enjoy the festival's atmosphere and witness portable shrines carried around called Mikoshi.

Schedule:
9:00 　Meet-up at Ikuno Station
9:30 　Opening ceremony, warm-up
10:00 – 12:00 　Cycling along the road of Ores
12:00 – 13:00 　Lunch at Mikobata
13:00 – 14:30 　Visiting Mikobata’s Ore Processing Ruins
14:30 – 15:30 　Cycling Mikobata → Tataragi
15:30 ~ Coffee time at Cycling Station Asago

Entry fee:
4,000 yen (cross-bike rental included)
6,000 yen (E-bike rental included)

Participants are welcome to bring their own bicycles.

*Please note that the event will be maintained in the event of light rain/drizzle, so bring some rainwear. Please wear cycling-appropriate clothes (easy to move in, no flowy pants that could get dirty or caught up in the bike’s chain).

Had a very fun and adventurous E-Bike tour with customers from Poland 🇵🇱

On a rainy day they were able to see majestic views of the countryside that come alive on such occasions.

We cycled from Ikuno town to Mikobata former mine and now ruins of a former ore processing facility. Along the way we saw Japan's old cast iron bridge and everyday life of local residents in Japan. Finally we stopped at our Cycling Station to enjoy some coffee and conversation.

We assisted with car & cycling guide support on a test run from Asago to Himeji city in preparation for the 6th annual Gin No Bashamichi & Koseki No Michi Cycle Train Event.

It was a very hot day, but operations went smoothly and everyone was safe.

Cyclist bicycle hanger and bench designed for Asago city and placed in front of Ikuno Silver Mine.

Made from 6mm satin finished stainless steel. It's a very sturdy bench that is bolted to a concrete floor that won't rust and withstand outdoor weather conditions.

The two figures on each side holding the bicycles are a modern and simple interpretation representing the miners that used to work in the mine with their mining hats on their heads. Now they support your bicycle and hold it up for you. A cut out feature under the name 'Ikuno Ginzan' shows the famous entrance to the mine tunnel.

When you visit Ikuno Silver Mine, be sure the checkout the bench, have a seat and if you're a cyclist, let the miners carry your bicycle for a moment.

んでもらいたかったからで す。このアートスタンドは、 サイクリストや訪れる人た ちに楽しんでもらうだけで なく、地元の皆さんにも、 このアートスタンドを通し て、この播但線沿いの素晴 らしい景色を誇りに思って もらい、世界に発信してい きたいです。またこれから このようなアートスタンド を播但線沿いにつくり、訪 れる人が、アートスタンド を通して楽しめる工夫がで きれば、より素晴らしい場 所になるでしょう。

私は3年間ALTとして 姫路に住んでいたとき、姫 路から北へよくサイクリン グをしました。 そのときに、 北に行けば行くほど変わる 景色、静かで平和的な播但 線沿いの風景に魅了されま した。

今回のアートスタンドは、 巨大なフォトフレームを表 しています。黄色のフレー ムは目を引きやすく、そし サイクリストたちが自分 のロードバイクなどを乗せ て、写真を撮れるような工 夫もしており、フォトスポ ットの役割も果たしていま す。

※アートスタンドのあるこ の場所が、訪れる人たちに とっても、地元の人たちに とっても魅力のある場所と なるよう、マナーやルール を守り、あたたかな人の交 流が生まれることを願いま す。また、播但線沿いの素 晴らしい景色の発信を続け ていきましょう。

Cycling Station Asago.

This is what the shop currently looks like. We now have coffee makers that brew delicious coffee.

A few more items will be added with merchandise and local foods as we continue into next year.

The shop is predicted to officially open on December 17th.
