The Jisshin-ko Iroha-no-uta, was written by Lord Shimazu Tadayoshi in the mid-1500s as a guide to moral behaviour for the samurai.

These simple aphorisms each start with one of the 47 letters of the traditional Japanese alphabet.

Join us in Kagoshima to experience the samurai culture of the Satsuma domain as it survives today. Jigen-ryu Hyoho is a style of swordsmanship unique to Kagoshima founded by Togo Tobei Bizen no Kami Chui (1561-1643). Jigen-ryu formed an integral part of the training of the samurai in Satsuma. Even today Jigen-ryu has a profound effect on the mentality and culture of Kagoshima. Jigen-ryu has been passed down unchanged from father to one son over the past 400 years to the 13th generation headmaster, Togo Shigetaka. Ajikan is a meditation method taken from the Shingon school of esoteric Buddhism that the founder of Jigen-ryu Togo Chui found useful to achieve the right mindset for practising swordsmanship. https://www.samuraiofculture.com/
