The Soryu kiln pottery used in the Italian Michelin two-star restaurant has already become famous, not only in Japan but also abroad, and people who are attracted to the beauty of the pottery have set up workshops in Japan and overseas, with many coming to visit.

A Fourth generation potter, Soryu Wakunami, met Madoka Wakunami, who was born in a potter family of 14 generations in Koishihara, Fukuoka, and the couple launched a new brand of Soryu pottery in Kyoto.
Soryu pottery was born from a fusion of the traditional techniques of Kiyomizu pottery in Kyoto and Koishihara pottery in Fukuoka. They have been making pottery while exploring the possibilities of celadon porcelain that can only be made by a couple with different skills, gradually expanding the range of activities in encounters with various people.
From the first generation, Soryu Wakunami inherited the technique of "Suwasozan", the leading porcelain style of Kyoto, which was active in the Meiji and Taisho eras. The Wakunami Family has been making pottery for four generations, preserving traditional techniques and the color of celadon porcelain, such as the technique of "kneading porcelain" by mixing pigments into porcelain clay. WIth celadon pottery, the color changes even if the amount of earth, glaze, iron, and the way of firing the kiln are just slightly different. Even though they have a lot of experience and know-how, they always remain nervous until the moment of starting the kiln.
