How does a $1.3M Swedish house in the Stockholm suburbs look like?

Well, my childhood friend Hannes grew up in this exact house, and I’ve spent thousands of hours here! From biking around the neighborhood in elementary school to doing homework, movie nights, and house parties during our teenage years, this place holds so many memories. It’s not your typical Swedish house either – it has a sauna in the basement (which are super popular in Japan now!) and a big indoor swimming pool down there too!

Check it out – brought back a lot of memories for me! 🏡

Free Houses in Japan: The True Story of How I Make Money DIY Renovating Abandoned Homes

New DIY-Akiya-project announcement:

empty and abandoned for a decade, I oresent to you: Chiba Farmhouse.

A 250m2 beautiful house on a 2500m2 plot of land, by the beach, just an hour away from Tokyo.

Price: 2,4M Yen (~$16,000)
The catch? About 30m2 of junk and treasures left for us to clean out, possibly costing more than the purchase cost of the house.

I fell in love with this house the moment we rode through the big beautiful gates, and despite it being in bad shape, I am confident we can bring it back to its former glory.

Up until this day, my friends and I have only touched and renovated akiyas in central Tokyo, and this will be my first ’rural’ project in Japan, which will come with different challenges.

The future of Chiba Farmhouse?

Keep the beautiful Japanese garden, the pond, many of the tatami rooms, build a sauna, a bio-pool, some pickle-ball courts maybe? I don’t know yet, but this will be a good one

Planning an upcoming Akiya/DIY workshop later this fall at this rundown(for now) house.
