Explore Beppu's Kannawa Hotspring Town with a legendary local guide!

There is a special place in Japan that is well known for its numerous hot springs. It is where steam envelops the town in a dream-like atmosphere.

Beppu City has around 2,300 vents that emanate from its 8 major hot springs. Beppu’s hot springs are also called jigogu or hell because of its open pools of boiling hot spring water. These are hot enough to boil eggs and sweet potatoes. In fact, small corner shops sell them to visitors to try. These pools are also a feast for the eyes with hues ranging from cobalt blue to blood red. Kannawa hot spring is especially famous for its healing baths that contains alum used in treating various skin conditions.

The tour in Kannawa will be led by Mr. Hanada, who is recognized as a local legend in the region. He moved to Beppu from Kumamoto Prefecture two because he fell in love with its natural beauty. He eventually opened two guest inns and is excited to share the charm of his hometown with the world!

＊This online tour will be conducted in Live with recorded video and live presentation. Hanada-san will also provide a live walking tour from his guest house and his neighborhood :)

【January 25】Enjoy Oita through the Takehango! 🎋

Experience bamboo forests, bamboo crafting, and glamping (glamorous camping) with a bamboo craftsman!

Kojima Chikara of Synergiez (a shared workspace for wood crafts and other crafts) will introduce the new Takehango! (bamboo rice cooker) souvenir to you whilst showing you the beauty of Oita!

For this tour, we will follow the production of the Takehango from the bamboo forest, to the production of it inside of a bamboo factory that has a 112-year history.

【January 24】Such a delicious shiitake mushroom exists!？

Oita Prefecture boasts the largest production of shiitake mushrooms in Japan. This project will be delivered from the long-established Shiitake store "Yamayoshi" in Beppu, which also has its own Shiitake wholesale market.

Introducing the amazing secrets of shiitake mushrooms and special dishes that take advantage of the goodness of this ingredient! Furthermore, if you eat this shiitake mushroom, you won't be able to eat anything else! We will also introduce amazing souvenirs, so don't miss out!
