A fish proficiency test was held in Saiki last Monday (Nov. 4th).
Fish lovers from all over Japan gathered in Saiki to take the test.
Saiki is famous for its catch of numerous species of fish (over 300!)
It's an ideal place for the fish lovers to gather.
The participants enjoyed eating a variety of tasty fresh fish. Some of the participants made "Gomadashi" sauce, which is made from toasted fish, sesame, soy sauce and other ingredients.
On the night before the test they enjoyed eating beautiful yellowtail sashimi and other fish dishes with Gomadashi sauce.

Tour de Saiki will be held on October 20th.
Participants can enjoy riding a bike in the beautiful nature.

How lovely those women look!
They are wearing Hakama style kimonos.
You can rent and enjoy this kind of kimono at Kanko kouryukan (Saiki castle town tourist information center).

Do you want to get away from the crowded city and travel out into the beautiful peaceful countryside to see some wonderful nature?
For sure some tasty local food would make the trip even better.
You can experience all of this in Saiki.
One of our staff and his friends went to a sushi restaurant and bought Ise ebi (Japanese lobsters) , then enjoyed a BBQ at Takahira camp site. They also enjoyed fishing, visited a local brewery, and visited Fujigawachi gorge.

On Saturday, Sep. 28th ,the cruise ship "ASUKA Ⅱ" paid a visit for the first time in Saiki. There were over 700 passengers onboard. About 400 people disembarked and enjoyed Saiki.
Kagura (a sacred dance) , Japanese drum, brass band and chorus were performed at the welcoming ceremony.

Have you ever been to the Ume area in Saiki?
The Ume shutaisai (Ume Autumn Festival) will be held Today (September 21st)
It is on a mountainside located in the south of Saiki, next to Miyazaki prefecture.
You can enjoy the ‘Kagura’, a sacred dance performed by several groups in beautiful nature setting.
Fireworks will also be performed.

It's still hot in Saiki, but we can now feel a little autumn in the air.
There are many nice spots for activities, history and gourmet food in Saiki.

From September 2nd to December 1st, Saiki, Oita Prefecture and Nobeoka, Miyazaki Prefecture, the ''Ise-ebi (Japanese lobster) fair"are held. Mark down that date, because you will not want to miss the opportunity to enjoy those delicious Ise-ebi. Hope to see you there!
