Makkari Onsen is one of our favorite onsen spots in all of Hokkaido! ✨

We can't think of a better way to enjoy Hokkaido's cold winter weather, than soaking in an outdoor onsen. Makkari Onsen offers hot spring water that is free-flowing from the source and an open-air bath from which you can view Mount Yotei throughout the year. There is something special soaking your body amongst the snow and looking upon the snow-capped Mount Yotei. For hikers and trekkers passing by, Makkari Onsen is definitely one of our recommendations!

More than a dozen films created by talented locals and seasonal workers throughout this spectacular season will create a cinematic feast at Hanazono’s on-piste restaurant and event space. The awards ceremony for this year's Niseko Shootout ProAM photo contest went down at Rhythm Japan Rhythm Base and the winners have been announced! Huge congratulations to Aaron Jamieson and Dennis Ranalter for winning the Judges Choice prize and to Tomek Ustupski, Henry Johnson for winning the public vote prize! Thanks again to Don Julio Tequila and all our event sponsors for making this all possible! Keep on shooting because the main hashtag contest is still on, with winners announced on March 11 at this year's Short Film Festival!

The annual Sapporo Snow Festival is currently being held in Sapporo City’s Odori Park and Susukino for the first time in three years. The event is on until tomorrow evening, so if you’re in the area be sure to see it soon!
For those who couldn’t make it this time, the festival is held every year for a week in early February, so be sure to bear it in mind when planning your next trip to Hokkaido!

Mt. Isola First Track at Rusutsu Resort (Official)

Available every Sunday in January and February!
First track ticket holders can take a special shuttle bus for first track guests over to Mt Isola to experience the mountain in the early morning before the lifts open.

Be the first to ride on the freshly groomed courses, or get your powder fix on the ungroomed trails-the first run of the morning is yours to enjoy at your own leisure!

Visiting Hokkaido this winter? Travel in style on the colourful Vulpix Jet!
From December of last year, regional airline carrier Air Do’s Vulpix Jet began serving flights between Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Hokkaido’s New Chitose, Asahikawa, and Hakodate Airports. The colourful wrapping of the Vulpix Jet features the local Pokémon ambassadors of Hokkaido: Alolan Vulpix and Vulpix. In keeping with the theme, the cabin itself is decked out with Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix themed headrests, paper cup designs; the charming Fox Pokémon even appears on the flight attendant’s aprons!

Ever wondered what Hokkaido looks like outside of ski season?
Some of Hokkaido’s most beautiful autumn scenery can actually be seen high in the mountains at our ski resorts! Every year, Hokkaido begins to see it’s autumn leaves around mid-September, peaking in mid-October- far earlier than the rest of mainland Japan! During this time, many ski resorts offer the opportunity to ride in a gondola up to see this amazing scenery from above. This year, we visited Sapporo Kokusai ski resort’s Autumn Festival, where in addition to the Autumn gondola, we also enjoyed trying lots of snacks at the food stalls set up at the base of the mountain!

As we approach the end of autumn, Mt. Yotei is looking absolutely stunning in contrast with the bright leaves! This year, Yotei saw its first dusting of settled snow on the 5th of October, which is a whole 12 days earlier than last year- a promising start to the new season!
