「原美術館 ARC 的時間芸術」特展
📍位於群馬澀川的 於現正舉辦名為「この、原美術館 ARC という時間芸術」的特展，邀請各位來感受「時間」在藝術和建築中的表現。展覽以建築師磯崎新設計的建築空間為背景，觀賞者可以在榛名山麓壯麗的大自然中遊賞品味當代藝術，並感受自然光線和環境變化等不同的觀賞體驗。
本次的特展包括加拿大藝術家 的聲音裝置作品《40 聲部的合唱》(The Forty Part Motet)，該作品用了40組排放成橢圓形的音響播放 16 世紀作曲家 Thomas Tallis 的宗教音樂《Spem in Alium》，在展間裡觀眾可以聆賞這件「聲音的雕塑」，用身體所有細胞來感受極具震撼力的音場，以及讓人起雞皮疙瘩、層層堆疊的莊嚴優美的音浪。(完整聆賞約14分鐘)
此外，本次的特展中亦有大家非常熟悉的 #草間彌生、 #奈良美智 的作品，以及訴說被甩的心境的92天心碎倒數實錄Sophie Calle的「限局性激痛」，以及之後的心靈療癒恢復過程，很符合本次的主題「時間藝術」。本展覽共分為兩部分，Part1：2025/3/15(六)～5/11(日)，Part2：5/16(五)～7/6(日)，本次介紹的作品為Part1。
📍2025.3.23這天我參加了館方舉辦的特別活動，《Meet the Artist: Janet Cardiff》，邀請藝術家本人聊聊他們的創作歷程。Janet Cardiff與他的創作夥伴兼丈夫George Bures Miller已經維持非常久的合作關係，雖然George在葡萄牙出席活動沒有到場，但Janet仍然非常推崇並感謝彼此互補的合作默契，作品中機械工程相關的裝置幾乎都是由George所包辦。
Janet Cardiff的作品經常結合聲音、影像和空間，創造出沉浸式的經驗，讓觀眾能夠感受到獨特的感官體驗。除了聲音裝置，Janet也經常利用行走和錄音來創作，並以此來探索時間、記憶和空間的關係。她的作品常常邀請觀眾以一種新的方式來理解他們所在的環境，並常常透過作品顛覆觀眾日常生活中的聽覺和視覺經驗。
除了本次展出的作品《40 聲部的合唱》(The Forty Part Motet)之外，Janet也介紹了許多其他的作品，出乎意料的是這些作品非常有趣，互動性非常強，且帶有一些懸疑、驚悚、不安、夢境的要素，有一種要顛覆觀眾認知或者是挑釁的味道。我覺得有些元素讓我想到 #大衛林區，讓我更想親身感受Janet Cardiff其他的作品。
在Q＆A的時候有觀眾問及「你這麼喜歡玩弄觀者的心理，是否有研究心理學理論？」，Janet Cardiff「我想人們就是喜歡被嚇，只要這一切是安全的」。我非常同意，大概就跟看恐怖片一樣吧。我喜歡看影視作品中的瘋子，但可不希望實際生活中或者職場上遇到瘋子。雖然已經遇過了。

"This Temporal Art Called "
📍Currently, the Hara Museum ARC in Shibukawa, Gunma, is holding a special exhibition titled "This Temporal Art Called Hara Museum ARC", inviting visitors to experience the expression of "time" in art and architecture. Visitors can enjoy contemporary art while immersed in the magnificent natural surroundings at the foot of Mt. Haruna. The exhibition also offers a unique experience of varying viewing perspectives with natural light and environmental changes.
A special highlight of this exhibition is Canadian artist Janet Cardiff's sound installation work - The Forty Part Motet, a reworking of “Spem in Alium” by Thomas Tallis 1573, which uses 40 speakers arranged in an elliptical shape to play 16th-century composer Thomas Tallis's famous piece, "Spem in Alium".
Inside the exhibition space, visitors can experience this "sound sculpture," where they can feel the powerful sound field through every cell of their body, as well as the overwhelming and majestic waves of sound that give me goosebumps. (The length is about 14 minutes.)
In addition, the exhibition features well-known works by Yayoi Kusama and Yosh*tomo Nara, as well as Sophie Calle's "Exquisite Pain," which reflects the emotional journey of heartbreak following a breakup, followed by the process of emotional healing — all fitting into the theme of "Temporal Art." The exhibition is divided into two parts: Part 1 from March 15 (Sat.) to May 11 (Sun.), 2025, and Part 2 from May 16 (Fri.) to July 6 (Sun.), 2025. The works introduced here are from Part 1.
📍On March 23, 2025, I attended a special event "Meet the Artist: Janet Cardiff", where the artist shared insights into her creative journey. has had a long-standing creative partnership with her collaborator, partner and husband . Although George was unable to attend the event as he was in Portugal, Janet expressed deep admiration and gratitude for their complementary collaboration, with many of the mechanical engineering-related installations being handled by George.
Janet Cardiff's works often combine sound, imagery, and space to create immersive experiences that allow the audience to engage in unique sensory experiences. In addition to sound installations, she frequently uses walking and recording as creative methods to explore the relationship between time, memory, and space. Her works often invite the audience to understand their surroundings in a new way, and she often subverts the auditory and visual experiences in everyday life.
Besides the exhibited work "The Forty Part Motet", Janet also introduced many other fascinating works, which are highly interactive and infused with elements of suspense, thrill, unease, and dream-like qualities. There’s an element of subverting the viewer's understanding or challenging their perceptions. Some aspects of her work even reminded me of David Lynch, making me eager to experience more of Janet Cardiff’s creations.
During the Q&A, a visitor asked, "You seem to enjoy manipulating the audience's psychology — have you studied psychology?" Janet Cardiff responded, "I think people just like to be scared, as long as it’s safe." I completely agree — it’s like watching a horror film. I enjoy seeing crazed characters in films, but I certainly don’t want to encounter them in real life or at work (although I have, unfortunately).

The cherry blossom trees around Hara Museum ARC bloom in early April, offering stunning views, so I also highly recommend visiting during that time. 「この、 という時間芸術」
📍群馬県渋川市にある原美術館ARCでは、現在「この、原美術館 ARC という時間芸術」という特別展が開催されており、「時間」がアートと建築においてどのように表現されるかを体験することができます。建築家磯崎新によって設計された建築空間を背景に、訪れる人々は榛名山麓の壮麗な自然の中で現代アートを楽しみ、自然光や環境の変化による異なる鑑賞体験を感じることができます。
本展の特別企画として、カナダのアーティスト #ジャネットカーディブ の作品「 #40声のモテット」が展示されています。この作品は、40台のスピーカーを楕円形に配置し、16世紀の作曲家Thomas Tallisの有名な曲「Spem in Alium」宗教音楽を再生します。展覧会場の中で、観客はこの「音の彫刻」を体験でき、身体全体でその圧倒的な音響空間を感じることができるとともに、ぞっとするような荘厳で美しい音の波を味わうことができます。（約14分）
また、本展には #草間彌生 や #奈良美智 の作品のほか、振られた心情を記録した の「 #限局性激痛」なども展示されています。本展は、Part1：2025.3.15(土)～5.11(日)、Part2：5.16日(金)～7.6.(日)に分かれており、こちらで紹介している作品はPart1のものです。
📍2025.3.23には、 特別イベント「Meet the Artist: ジャネットカーディブ講演会」に参加し、アーティスト本人の創作過程について語る機会を持ちました。ジャネットカーディブは、彼女の創作パートナーであり夫でもあるジョージ・ビュレス・ミラーとの長年にわたる共同制作を行っており、ジョージはポルトガルでのイベントのため不在でしたが、ジャネットはお互いの補完的な協力関係に深い尊敬と感謝の意を示していました。作品に関連する機械工学的なインスタレーションはほとんどがジョージによって手がけられています。
ジャネットカーディブの作品は、音、映像、空間を融合させ、観客に独自の感覚的体験を提供する没入型の体験を作り出します。音響インスタレーションのほか、歩行や録音を利用して時間、記憶、空間の関係を探求することが多いです。彼女の作品は観客に新しい方法で周囲を理解させ、日常生活の聴覚や視覚の経験を覆すことがよくあります。
今回展示されている「40声のモテット」に加え、その他の作品も紹介しましたが、これらは非常に面白く、強いインタラクションがあり、サスペンスやスリル、不安、夢のような要素を含んでいて、観客の認識を覆したり挑戦するような感覚を与えます。特に一部の要素は #デヴィッドリンチ を思わせ、さらに他の作品を体験したくなりました。Q&Aでは観客が「観客の心理をいじるのが好きなようですが、心理学の理論を学んだことがありますか？」と尋ねると、ジャネットは「人々は怖がることが好きだと思うんです。ただし、安全な場合に限ります」と答えました。私もその意見に完全に同意します—これは恐怖映画を観るようなものですね。映画で狂ったキャラクターを見るのは好きですが、実生活や職場で実際に会いたくはありません（残念ながら、実際に会ったことがありますが）。笑
