Dam in Satsuma-cho, Kagoshima

One of the biggest dams in Kyushu❣️

A multipurpose dam with flood control and power generation.

A well experienced staff of this dam explained about this place to me.
There are many “really!?” & “unbelievable!”😆‼️

I have to tell you that the dam is using state of the art technology to protect people and their assets 💕
From the top of the dam, you can enjoy breathtaking views of nature surrounding the facility✨✨✨

A tour for a group of 40 international passengers from a cruise ship 🛳️

A half day tour on Amami Oshima Island 🏝️

Thanks to the beautiful weather, Kikai Island is seen just over there 💓

After completing the tour, I went to my favorite and small cafe run by the local lady to enjoy her handmade curry and rice 🍛✨✨

Welcoming my guests to Ryumonji Yaki Kiln

This kiln has a long history of 330 years as an origin and nothing has changed in their technique and raw materials.
The unique colors come from the glaze❣️

The clay and glaze have been made with soil from this area since the beginning✨

Quite small area and limited people are working on production of this pottery💖

My guest is learning the art staying here for a while ❣️

Obi Town in Miyazaki✨

Obi Castle Ruin & its well preserved castle town 🏯🌲

Even there isn’t castle anymore, the atmosphere has something special ✨
Imagine that there were many samurai walking and merchants were working very busily there.

You can feel it strongly by staying at “Akane Sasu”💖

Moon shows us the time of samurai in magical way😊💓

The 3rd day : Town in Miyazaki

“How could this be possible ⁉️”

At Takachiho Gorge, we walked along the water stream and enjoyed the stunning views created by huge power of nature ✨

This town is blessed with not only the unique nature but also Japanese Mythology 👺💓

There are many stories and spots of gods and goddesses there.
Visiting such sites make you feel the existence of the gods who were believed to have made the origin of Japan ✨❣️

Ok, then what’s next??

🍂The first day of 6 days Kyushu Tour for guests in October 🌰

Guess what!
Where is this???

Kurokawa Onsen, Hot Spring village in Kumamoto♨️

It’s located in a deep mountainous area.
There are 30 Ryokans with open air hot spring and you can visit anywhere with Onsen Hopping Pass👍

The main street is unbelievably narrow and the 30 Ryokans are standing very close to each other.✨
It’s like you step in another world😆💓

Doesn’t it sound very charming 😉❓

Obi Castle Ruins 🏯

An area of well preserved of castle town which had prospered during samurai era in Miyazaki Prefecture.

Exploring there gets you feel like you were back to the age 💖

Eating local foods in a real samurai house is exciting!

This is a very good season to do something cultural 😊

“Ukiyo-e”

Traditional Japanese art that originated in the 17th Century of Edo Period ✨

Until then art was something that was mainly inaccessible to the general citizens.
Only privileged and upper-class citizens could come into contact with such culture.

During Edo Period, the whole country became more stable. As a result, a larger group of people started enjoying art and paintings.

Ukiyo-e works are Japanese wood prints that often depict popular geisha, sumo wrestlers and Kabuki actors, beautiful landscapes like Mount Fuji, scenes from local folklore and more.

In this exhibition I went this time is a quite unique one💕

Ukiyo-e works are “moving”😆💕💕
I felt like I travelled back to the era and was listening the sound there and voice of the people in a very colorful world 🤩🤩❣️

“Sho-Ryo Nagashi (To-Ro Nagashi)”

In Japan, it’s believed that ancestors’ spirits come back to their descendants’ home for 3days in middle of summer.

There is a traditional custom on the very end of the three days.

That is “Sho-Ryo Nagashi (To-Ro Nagashi).”

This is a memorial service.
Paper lanterns which are carrying spirits of the dead are floating down a river to return to the other world.

Especially for a family who have lost their family member in the year, it becomes very special.

I was in Nagasaki the other day and found that Sho-Ryo Nagashi there is very spectacular.

Paper lanterns are ship-shaped with lots of decorations and much bigger than usual. The family carry and walk on a road (cars have to give way to them) to the sea.
While walking, they set off fire crackers, so the town is filled with very festive atmosphere.

According to locals, when it gets dark, many people get together and they form a big and long procession to a bay.

Depending on area, we can see various unique customs even in one country😊❣️

Very fascinating country, Japan 💖

We did it 😆💕💕💕‼️

We completed the sea kayaking half marathon 🎉😆❣️

This challenge just came to my mind after watching this event last year, and has completed with lots of supports from our mentor Mr. Nomoto and important friends🥰

Being lucky with the weather, we really enjoyed the breathtaking views of the strait and nearby beaches, and locals’ heartwarming encouragement and hospitality💕

Are we joining this next year again????

Maybe we’ll do it a little bit faster than this year😜😜
