It has been a refreshing day in Akita City since this morning thanks to the fine weather.
In Senshu Park, 10-minute walk from Akita Station, azaleas in deep red and vermilion as well as white and light purple have begun to bloom, creating a vivid contrast with the fresh greenery.
The wisterias on the small wisteria trellis at Kogetsuike Pond in the park are also blooming with pretty flowers.
Why don’t you enjoy strolling under the refreshing blue sky?
The azaleas in the park are lit-up from 6:00p.m.-10:00p.m., Friday, May 10 to Sunday, May 26.

“Azalea Light-Up in Senshu Park to Begin”
The lighting up of azaleas in Senshu Park, where approximately 2,600 azaleas are planted, will begin on Friday, May 10.

“Daruma Matsuri" will be held!
"Daruma Matsuri" (Daruma Festival) at Hosh*tsuji Shrine in Omachi, Akita City, will be held.
The belief in Hosh*tsuji Shrine's fire prevention is said to date back to the Edo period, and it is also said that rain always falls on the day of the festival. The festival is crowded all day long with people buying Daruma dolls with various wishes for family safety, academic success, prosperous business, and peace. The Daruma Festival is a traditional festival that everyone is encouraged to visit.
Date & Time: April 12 (Fri.) 8:00 - 20:00, stalls from around noon to early evening
April 13 (Sat) 8:00-18:00
Location: Hosh*tsuji Shrine 1-2 Omachi, Akita City
About 15-min. walk from Akita Station
Please note that the street in front of Hosh*tsuji Shrine will be closed to vehicular traffic from 9:00am to 8:00pm on the 12th and from 9:00am to noon on the 13th.

“Akita City Crafts Festival"
"Akita City Crafts Festival" is an exhibition and sales event that brings together a variety of crafts produced in Akita City.
Visitors can enjoy talking with craftspeople while viewing and purchasing their works. Visitors can also enjoy hands-on crafts such as making lacquered chopsticks and painting Yabase-ningyo dolls (charged).

An exhibition of icicle flowers and ice sculptures started on Saturday, February 3 in Area Nakaichi.

"Zoo in Winter", an annual winter event at Akita City Omoriyama Zoo, starts today, January 6 (Sat).
Visitors can enjoy seeing animals in winter, and there are a lot of fun events too.

・Date: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from January 6 (Sat) to February 25 (Sun)
・Hours: 10:00am-3:00pm (Admission until 2:30pm)
