【Kushiro Fisherman's Wharf MOO】
Hello everyone!
Kushiro Fisherman's Wharf MOO” is often mentioned as a symbol of Kushiro, a big port city in Hokkaido.
The name “MOO” was coined from the initial letters of “Marine Our Oasis,” meaning “the sea is our resting place.
This facility offers a wide variety of specialty products such as seafood products and sweets made in the Kushiro area, making it a perfect place to purchase souvenirs.
Here is also the departure and arrival point for the airport shuttle buses and city buses.
Why not stop by on your way to and from Kushiro or on your way back from sightseeing in Kushiro?

【Kushiro's Seasonal cuisine: Hairy Crab】
Hello everyone!
It is getting really cold and freezing since temperature has been fall below zero degrees after turning to December.
Kushiro is such a cold region, which makes why hairy crabs here are so delicious!
Around December, sea water temperature drops due to the cold air, it makes the hairy crabs firmer and plump.
Also other seafood such as octopus and cod are also the best season to eat, so now is the best time to enjoy the great seafood cuisine in Kushiro!

【Winter in Kushiro】
Hello everyone!
As we enter the long winter season, snow is piling up everywhere in Hokkaido.
However, Kushiro area is famous for its lack of snowfall, and compared to the amount of snowfall in Sapporo, Kushiro has only 1/3 of Sapporo's snowfall.
Therefore, snow does not often accumulate in December, and you can still enjoy a comfortable drive here.
Now is the time to enjoy winter driving in Kushiro as the highway is extended to Kushiro from Sapporo!

【Akkeshi Waterfowl Observation Center】
Hello everyone!
The Akkeshi Waterfowl Observation Center is located in Bekkanbeushi wetland, a Ramsar registered wetland. It was constructed for the purpose of deepening understanding of waterfowl, plants, animals, wetland conservation, and varieties uses of the wetland.
Inside the building, there has an observation corner with a panoramic view of the wetland, and a display corner with panels and photos of wild birds and other information about the wetand.
You can also go canoeing inside the Bekkanbeushi wetland, so why don't you check out the information of the birds at this facility before you go canoeing to see the deep nature?

【Road station: Mashu Onsen】
Hello everyone!
There are several roadside stations in the Kushiro area, but “Road station Mashu Onsen” is the most northerly roadside station in the Kushiro area. Located in the town of Teshikaga, an area famous for its hot springs.
The roadside station has a direct sales counter selling Teshikaga mangoes, strawberries, and other local specialties, as well as many other products that are produced by the local community.
Here also features a footbath, which is an attraction unique to the area's hot springs.
There is also a tourist information center of Teshikaga, so why not stop by before touring Teshikaga and other areas nearby?

【Cape Forest Higashiyama Park】
Hello everyone!
Kushiro area is famous for its beautiful coastline as it faces the sea.
The view from “Cape Forest Higashiyama Park” in the photo, located on the east side of Shiranuka Town, is particularly breathtaking, and you can see not only Shiranuka Fishing Port below but also Kushiro Port in the distance.

【Beppo Park Lo Bazaar】
Hello everyone!
We visited Beppo Park Lo Bazar in Kushiro last day!
Lo Bazar opened in 2013 as a food and beverage zone. It is a recreation area where adults and children can play in a natural environment.
Also, there are two other buildings: one selling local products from the Kushiro region, including local fish and vegetables, and the other one is a restaurant serving local food.
And the autumn leaves, which are tinted red this time of year, are blooming beautifully.

【Washo Market】

Hello everyone!

【Takimi Bridge】

Hello everyone!
It's autumn and the Kushiro area is now in the season for viewing the autumn leaves.
Takimi-bashi Bridge in Akan town is one of the best places in Kushiro where you can see beautiful autumn leaves.
The river that originates from Lake Akan flows under the bridge, and you may catch a photogenic moment which waterfalls falling through the autumn leaves.
There is also a promenade around Lake Akan where you can see beautiful autumn leaves, so you may want to take a walk when you visit Akan Town.

【Sekineppu Observation Plaza】

Hello everyone!
Autumn is deepening and the Kushiro area is becoming more comfortable to stay with a cool breeze..
There is a scenic spot with a great view called “Sekineppu Observation Plaza” located on the “North Pacific Seaside Line” that runs from Cape Nosappu in Nemuro to Hiroo in Tokachi.
It is located between Konbumori and Cape Shirepe in Kushiro Town and is a great place to have a fun driving here.

【Roadside station, Akkeshi Gourmet Park Conchiglie】

Hello everyone!
Conchiglie is a roadside station representing the town of Akkeshi town. Speaking of Akkeshi, everyone will talk about the local delicious oysters. Inside the station, you can enjoy Robata-yaki (Japanese grilled barbecue) with enjoying grilled oysters and dishes using oysters and other foods produced in Akkeshi town.

【Kushiro red crowned crane nature park】

Hello everyone!
We visited Kushiro red crowned crane nature park few days ago!
The park was established in 1958 to protect and breed red-crowned cranes, which are in danger of extinction and are designated as “special natural monuments” by the Japanese government.
Currently, about 20 red-crowned cranes are kept in the park, and it is fascinating to be able to observe them up close. There are also plenty of detailed information related to red crowned cranes are shown. For example, multiple choice quizzes and handwritten explanations.

【Sunset in Kushiro】
Hello everyone!
Did you know that the Kushiro area is famous for its sunsets?
It is said that around 1965, the sailors of foreign ships who visited Kushiro Port heard word of mouth about the beauty of sunset in Kushiro, which made it famous as “the world's top three sunsets.”
The photo is of the sunset was taken from Nusamai Bridge, a famous photo spot in Kushiro city center. From autumn to winter, the eastern Hokkaido region has many sunny days and as the air becomes clear, the better condition to see the dramatic sunset, so why not take this opportunity to go and see the sunset in Kushiro?

【Harutori Lake】
Hi everyone!
Lake Harutori is an inland sea-lake located in Kushiro City that was formed when the sea remained on land.
This lake is famous for being able to see a variety of bird species throughout the year, and more than 150 species of birds have been observed, including the long-tailed tit and the white-tailed eagle.
There is also a loop path that takes you around the lake Harutori, so you can enjoy bird watching and jogging.
It's close to the center of Kushiro and can be easily accessed, so why not take a walk if you're staying in Kushiro?
