【Tsurubo’s house (Tsurui Tancho Plaza Tsurubo-no-Ie)】
We will be introducing you to an attractive facility located in Kushiro region!
This time we will introduce you the “Tsurubo’s house” (Tsurui Tancho Plaza Tsurubo-no-Ie)!
The facility, which celebrated its ninth anniversary this year, is located in the center of Tsurui village in Kushiro region, on Prefectural road 53 where it is easily accessible.

Inside the store you will find a wide range of goods with the mascot Tsurubo design, postcards of wildlife from the area, as well as food products such as cheese and venison, which all of them are Tsurui village's specialty!
Also, at the take-out corner of the store, you can enjoy “Tancho Softcream” which is made with milk produced in Tsurui.!

Please come and visit to take a good break with many Tsurubo designs and great merchandise!

Access: 40 minutes from Kushiro Station by car.

Kushiro Fair will be held at Hokkaido Dosanko Plaza Sapporo from June 4!

The Kushiro Fair is going to held at the Hokkaido Dosanko Plaza Sapporo Store, located at the north exit of JR Sapporo Station West Street, featuring a variety of delicious Kushiro products!

Customers who purchase Kushiro Fair products and fill out a questionnaire will receive a
“Cute White tailed t**s Pen” as a present! (The offer will end as soon as the pen is run out.)

We will also be offering a terrine from “Cheri” and wine from “Tsurubou no Ie”, both of which are new to the Kushiro Fair!
Also, it will be the first time that start offering sake at the eat-in space!
Please enjoy the local sake from the Kushiro area!

【About the 51st Kushiro Tulip & Flower Fair】
The 51st Kushiro Tulip & Flower Fair will be held at Kushiro City Tsurugatai Park on May 24 (Sat) and 25 (Sun)! The entire Tsurugatai Park will be transformed into a festival square with colorful tulips and spring flowers decorating the venue!

During the festival, it is also a great period to enjoy sakura (cherry blossom). Come here and enjoy a beautiful colloborations of tulip and sakura!

There will be a stage program, booths for food, drink, and merchandise, a raffle for meal coupons and other great prizes, and many other events.

Please come and enjoy the spring in Kushiro!

【Koi-toi-Hall】
Koi-toi-hall in Shiranuka town, which regrettably closed in February this year, has renovated to a new building and opened on April 29!
Inside the facility, there are many attractions such as the Koi-toi Market where you can buy local specialties, agricultural and livestock productsl for your souvenir gift, and a food court where you can enjoy gourmet foods from Shiranuka and other parts of East Hokkaido.
And is not only about food!
The facility has a sauna that can enjoy an ocean view, a rooftop observation deck, and a “Kokko-Park” where children can play, making it a fun place for all ages.
If you came from far away, why not visit here as a rest point, or if you live nearby, why not take a leisurely drive and visit us?

【The 76th Akkeshi Sakura and Oyster Festival】

Do you know the “only one” thing about oysters in Akkeshi town?

Oysters from Akkeshii are the oysters that can be provided all year round!
The oysters from Akkeshi, raised in low water temperature and for a long period of time which make them have a very firm and plump body!

It is rare in Japan that delicious oysters can be provided all year round. Akkeshi and Kushiro area are precious areas where you can enjoy oysters in season any time of the year!

And this month, the Akkeshi Sakura Oyster Festival will be held again this year, with oysters from Akkeshi as the main attraction!
The “Akkeshi Sakura and Oyster Festival,” now in its 76th year, will be held over eight days from Saturday, May 10 to Sunday, May 18.

Many sakura trees are planted in Konohi Park, the venue of the festival, and it is considered a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.
Please enjoy oysters under the cherry blossoms, which “late blooms” can only be experienced in east Hokkaido.

In addition to oysters, seafood from Akkeshi and other areas of Kushiro will be available for purchase at the venue.
Barbecue sets will be available at the venue, and everyone can enjoy seafood barbecue with no preparations!

Please stop by the Kushiro area, including Akkeshi, during the latter half of Golden week!

【Beautiful spring season has come in Kushiro】
Beautiful May has come and how is everyone doing?
The days have been chilly in the East Hokkaido area, but you can gradually feel the signs of spring at Kushiro area!

【Kushiro Marshland Norokko-go Train】
Hello everyone!
The “Kushiro Marshland Norokko-go train” will soon start its service.
The Norokko-go is a rare sightseeing train that runs at a slow speed through Kushiro Marshland, allowing you to enjoy the magnificent Kushiro Marshland view and its flora and fauna, including Ezo deer, up close from the train's windows.
The train also provides a guide to the nature along the train route, making your trip to the marshlands even more enjoyable!
This will be the last season to operate next year, so be sure to take a ride at least once before it ends!

【Cape Kiritappu】
Hello everyone!
Cape Kiritappu, located in Hamanaka town nearby Kushiro city, is a famous filming location for movies and TV dramas.
It is also a perfect habitat environment for sea otters, which are currently breeding naturally here, and can often be seen swimming just below the cape.

【Road station Shiranuka Koitoikan】
Hello everyone!
Do you know that “Roadside Station Shiranuka Koitoikan”, one of the tourist attractions in Kushiro area, will be renovated this month?
This facility offers a wide variety of products such as Ezo deer meat, a specialty dish of the Kushiro area, cheese, processed marine products, etc. that are perfect for souvenirs. It is a great stopover point for travelers and a perfect sightseeing spot to end a trip as it is close to the airport.
With the connection of the East Hokkaido Highway, access to the Kushiro area from here has become even easier, so why not stop by when you visit the area on a road trip?

【Cape Aikappu】
Hello everyone!
With the coming of spring and the melting of the snow, Kushiro area is now in the best season for driving.
The North Pacific Seaside Line, which runs along the coastline to the south of Kushiro, is a great driving course with beautiful scenery. Especially Cape Aikappu, which is located along the road, is a wonderful scenic spot. On the road to the observation spot, you can enjoy a chill forest walking where you may encounter wild animals such as Ezo deer in abundant nature, and at the observation deck, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.

【Hokkaido East Trail】
Hello everyone!
A 410-km long trail connecting the East Hokkaido national parks of “Shiretoko,” “Akan-Mashu,” and “Kushiro Marshland” has opened in October 2024.
This long trail connects the three national parks in one long stretch, allowing visitors to enjoy the spectacular scenery created by the abundant nature of the East Hokkaido region.
In Kushiro, the Tsutsujigahara Nature Trail connecting Kawayu Onsen town to Mt. Io is an ideal course for beginners, and you can enjoy the unique landscape and nature of the volcanic region, so you should try walking it at least once.

【Akan International Crane Center, Gurus】
Hello everyone!
The red-crowned crane was once on the verge of extinction, but thanks to local conservation and support from the people and government, their numbers are now keep increasing.
As part of the conservation, the Akan International Crane Center is the birthplace of using artificial feeding which is a common method in many places in eastern Hokkaido, and was established to compensate for the lack of food for cranes during the winter season.
As a result, many red-crowned cranes as well as swans fly to this facility for food, making it a good place to observe cranes and other birds.
The facility also has an exhibition and theater about crane ecology, so you can learn more about the red-crowned crane.
