It takes about 2 hours from Tokyo by JR Pass (Shinkansen Hikari).
This is Nagoya.
You can see Nagoya Castle, which was built in 1615 by the order of Ieyasu Tokugawa, a warlord of the Warring States period.
The castle tower is topped with a gorgeous "golden Shachihoko*", which conveys the power and wealth of the Tokugawa family at that time.
In addition to typical dishes such as miso katsu (pork cutlet), miso nikomi udon, tebasaki (chicken wings), and hitsu-mabushi, Nagoya offers some of the most unique cuisine in Honshu.

*"Golden Shachihoko": An imaginary creature. It has a dragon (or tiger) head, a fish body, and a tail that curves back toward the sky.
Shachihoko is believed to have the power to spit water from its mouth and extinguish fire, and is meant as a charm to protect the castle from fire, the great enemy of wooden structures.
It is said that the male is on the north side and the female on the south side, and that the male is protecting the female from the cold north wind.
It is made of real gold, not gold leaf, and at the time the castle was built, the value of the Shachihoko was over 2 billion yen in today's money.
