【The Path of Light in Usa Jingu】✨

The Chokushi Kaido (“imperial messenger road”) is a historic road leading to Usa Jingu Shrine that has long been traversed by chokushi, messengers who deliver offerings and read prayers to the shrine deities on behalf of the emperor; recently, also known as the "The Path of Light."😲

Usa Jingu Shrine is the head shrine of approximately 40,000 Hachiman shrines nationwide. You can have the best view of "The Path of Light" twice a year, approximately from April 27 to May 3 and from August 10 to 15, when the street aligns perfectly with the sunset.😎

Usa Jingu Shrine holds significant religious importance in Japan, as Minamoto no Yoritomo, the sh**un of the Kamakura period, revered the Hachiman deity as his guardian god. The shrine is believed to protect family safety and bring victory.✌️

Additionally, Usa Jingu is the birthplace of the portable shrine (mikoshi). It is said that in the 8th century, the Hachiman deity traveled from Usa to Nara using a mikoshi on his way to Todai-ji Temple.

In the year 2025 (Reiwa 7), there will be a great celebration of the 1300th anniversary of the Hachiman deity's enshrinement in the main hall, including the grand ceremony of chokushi, which takes place only once every ten years!😲

Minami Churomon Gate (a tangible cultural property designated by Oita Prefecture), which is the most iconic building of Usa Jingu, is expected to complete its renovation by the end of March 2025. Making it a great opportunity to visit Usa Jingu Shrine.🙌

🎎 Japanese dolls for the Doll Festival at Sakuraoka Shrine are now on display! 🎎
At Usa Yokkaichi, Sakuraoka Shrine🌸, various dolls for the Doll Festival will be exhibited in the early spring (mid-February until March 3rd.)
This year, approximately 300 Doll Festival dolls are showcased 😳

On March 2nd, there will be a Doll Festival ceremony where local children will dress up as Japanese Doll to celebrate Doll Festival. 🥰
It's a great opportunity to take special photos 📸

Exploring Usa City by Taking A-Train! 🚆
Fukuoka Departure, One-Day Trip of Usa City.🙌

JR Kyushu's special train "A-Train," typically operates in the Kumamoto area and is renowned for its luxurious interior and onboard facilities✨

This time, we have collaborated with JR Kyushu to introduce a one-day tour departing from Fukuoka Hakata and Kokura city of Kitakyushu.

【Go on a sake tasting journey at the Koku no Kura brewing facility in Usa City】🍶

Usa City in Oita Prefecture has been the region’s granary for centuries.🌾
Thanks to these abundant agricultural resources, Usa also has a thriving sake tradition, with seven breweries dotted around the area. The city is also the top producer of wheat shochu in Japan.🗾

Sanwa Shurui, the largest brewery in Usa, established Karashima Koku no Kura, a sake experience facility, in May 2022. Here you can not only taste a variety of local sake for a small fee, but also participate in brewery tours to learn about the process of sake-making. The tours are for a maximum of 5 people, so be sure to reserve in advance.☎️

Visitors who don’t drink are also well catered for at the stylish Mugi no Kura café located in the surrounding park, where you can enjoy delicious foods🍖 and beverages🍹 made with local ingredients. Afterwards, relax in the spacious garden, where younger guests are welcome to play outdoors.🙌

As the weather gradually cools down🍁, cycling around Usa has become a very popular choice. 🔥
Today, let's explore Usa City's bicycle journey together through the camera lens!📸

Here, the bicycle guide will explain the planned route in detail, including places on the route where you need to be cautious about traffic, and the restroom stops.

Kochia Blooming at Oita Prefecture Agriculture and Culture Park!😍

Located at the border of Usa City and Kitsuki City, Oita Prefecture Agriculture and Culture Park (Ruru Park) is known for its blooming of lush, fluffy Kochia in September. At the park, there are approximately 4,000 Kochia plants, making this park as if covered by a massive green carpet.😲

As the weather gradually cools down, the color of the Kochia grass transforms from green🟢 to red🔴, presenting another beautiful landscape.

Usa Jingu Summer Festival👘🎇

Every year from July 31st to August 2nd, the largest and most popular event of the year, the "Usa Jingu Summer Festival," is held at Usa Jingu Shrine. This festival originated in the Heian period as a purification ritual for blessings. 🎎

In the present day, the Usa Jingu Summer Festival not only includes traditional purification ceremonies but also mikoshi (portable shrine) parade; Along with traditional music and dance performances, various food, drinks, and entertainment stalls, making this festival a hallmark event of Usa Jingu Shrine.⭐️

On the second day of the festival, the "Yabusame Shinji" refers to horseback archery🐎🏹, which is said to have originated in Usa. In the mid-6th century, during a tumultuous period, Emperor Kinmei asked to demonstrate horseback archery by skilled riders to offer to the three deities of Usa Jingu for "peace throughout the realm and abundant harvests.🌾" This tradition continues every August 1st at Usa Jingu Shrine, showcasing a traditional and spirited ritual.

On the final day of the festival, in addition to the ceremony of the mikoshi returning to the main hall, there is also a firework🎆 you can enjoy in the evening. Along with firework, there are taiko drum performances and various stalls, allowing you to fully experience the atmosphere of a Japanese summer festival.

【Baby Animals at African Safari🍼✨】

The Senzai Farm in Usa City has biggerst wisteria garden in Kyushu😎

In here, you can see various colors of wisteria and even try wisteria flavor ice cream !😳

In addition to wisteria, you can also drink a cup of green tea 🍵 for only 150 Yen!
And the orange🍑 called Dekopon is also very famous, you will like its sweetness and juiciness for sure 😋

🌸 Futaba Spring market🌸

On April 9th, the quarterly Sunday market was held in the Futaba no sato in Usa City. Futaba no sato was established in honor of the legendary sumo wrestler Futabayama, who was born in Usa City and holds the highest record of 69 consecutive wins in sumo history. 🏅

In addition to various food trucks and local agricultural products, the most popular attraction was the sumo hot pot🍲 prepared by the local. People believed that sumo wrestlers consume a lot of nutritious food like this to develop their strong body. 💪

Another attraction of attending this event is you can receive delicious donuts😋 made by famous donuts shop called nico donuts. The queue for these donuts was exceeded 100 people! 😳
The next time, summer market, will be held around the end of July.

In Usa, you can participate in various experience programs throughout the year.
During spring and autumn seasons, you can enjoy the DIY spoon-making experience.

The instructor for this experience program, Mr. Ito, explained carefully from the selection of the wood to the final processing. Each step is taken care by his close attention👀, so even those with no woodworking experience can easily get started.
