A September ramble on Mt. Elgon. Slightly early for my (78th) birthday ; ---- but had to take advantage of my friends' availability. Magnificent scenery but you cannot relax to enjoy when there is a threat of rain. Take waterproofs, plenty of liquids and bivouac equipment if you have the means to carry (porters).

The NRTA Chairman recently paid a courtesy to the Kitale Airstrip. It was all about linking airport transport and tourism. What a fantastic initiative, right? It'd be amazing to see how the transportation sector will be working towards promoting tourism in the area. I can't wait to see how this will benefit travellers and locals alike.

SUGUTA VALLEY
There is a "road" from Malasso village going about 5 km down towards the Valley. It is not getting anywhere nea rthe valley floor, but offers spectacular views and scenery. Good 4WD and driver are essential. Remember, the main challenge is getting back !

Maralal area. SAMBURU REGION
The main attractions of the area are mountains, valleys and viewpoints. The Samburu people retain traditional dress and customs.
Access via C77 road now being upgraded to a highway.
