What is the origin of Airbnb?

Well in 2007 Brian Chesky & Joe Gebbia were broke and looking to raise money to make their rent in San Francisco. They called their service “Air Bed and Breakfast.” shortened to AirBnb.

The simple Air Mattress inspired the name hence Airbnb.

Without owning a single home Airbnb has grown to be the largest rooms inventory owners globally.

They beat hands down old leading hotels chains in both inventory and market cap / valuation . They beat Mariott now with Starwood / Sheraton, Intercontinental & Hilton all combined.
