A short film by Michael Gachiri
The annual Lamu Cultural Festival, spanning three days, takes place this year from 28 - 30 November. During this time, locals from various islands within the Lamu Archipelago come together to joyously celebrate their past, present, and future.
Packed with a diverse range of activities, the festival offers an enriching experience for those interested in the traditions that are the heart and soul of these communities. This will include dhow and donkey races, henna painting for women, traditional Bao competitions, Swahili poetry, and the showcasing of different Swahili foods.
This beautiful short film, produced and edited by

From 30 October - 3 November 2024, the 10th edition of the @lamu_yoga_festival will take place, in collaboration with 25 yoga and wellness instructors from Kenya and around the world. For five days, yoga, breathing, meditation, and informative wellness workshops across the island will offer expert knowledge and a space to deepen practices while building life-long friendships and experiencing the natural beauty of Lamu.

Catching first light on Al Aina during a magic Morning Swim Club. Join us on one of our restored dhow boats, at the same time the sun peeks over the mangroves, for a refreshing dip in the gentle Lamu waters, freshly cut fruit and that first cup of coffee.

Our restored dhows are like giant floating couches from which you can comfortably explore the archipelago and its many creeks. There is nothing quite like that feeling of gliding along the water, sun kissed, passing only the occasional boat or bird.
Our Anna has been wild swimming in the Lamu channel for more than 30 years now and still maintains that it's the best way to start a morning in the archipelago.
Experience this for yourself by booking one of our boats and heading into the thick of the mangroves for a refreshing dip, immersed in nature.
