We have a plea from 2 wonderful people who would love others to join them should you wish on a Safari in October 2024
Olive Trek Safaris love to help people wherever they can so with that in mind a little plea to you all…..
I have been asked by a couple if anyone would like to join them on Safari in October 2024.
They are open to suggestions and would love to have others join them on an Olive Trek Safari!
At this present time, there is no specific safari itinerary considered, but as this is still in the early stages of planning, we can easily tailor make to suit you all.
We would obviously be delighted if you know of anyone who would like to enjoy a fabulous time in our prime wildlife areas.
These lovely people wanted to join another group, but sadly we could not find that extra space available, in particular Rwanda and the gorillas.
They are happy to join anyone who may wish to have company on a safari in Kenya, but open too, for Rwanda and the gorillas if anyone is interested.
Obviously the more people the more economical it will be.

On Safari in October 2023 – we came upon this young leopard in the afternoon, having seen him in the early morning, but this time he was enjoying a young Vervet monkey, with only a few small pieces left. However, his peace was disturbed by a ‘pesky’ hyena and as you can see from his early reactions, did not enjoy the company.
The hyena charged in, but the leopard was a little quicker and was up a tree and finished off his meal.
Thereafter he came down, nonchalantly lay down and the pest, popped in for a quick look around.
This was one of the highlights of our safari, although there were so many it was hard to decide!

On my last safari…….
Waking up early on your safari can be a bit of a bore, but this is when the ‘extraordinary’ happens, as we found out on morning, just having driven out of camp…… 3 sleeping elephants, but one youngster was a little reluctant, like all teenagers are…..said with tongue in cheek!
Once they had moved on, no more than 5 minutes later a leopard, then 20 minutes later young jackal cubs, the rest of the day continued in the same light, but that is for another day!

East Africa - Kenya, is a land of beauty and a photographers paradise!
The wonderful thing on Safari is to look at the artistic value of photography and there is no shortage of beauty in our wilderness, when you are roaming around the country, as each destination will have something of beauty that captures the heart, mind & soul.
It is a matter of visualizing what it will look like when you put it on a screen, yes there are times one has to tweak the photo, but marginally, as it is fun to see if perhaps a sepia, with a touch of colour or perhaps cloud enhancement and this may well add that little extra drama to the photo and memories of that moment.
However, sunrises and sunsets are hard to resist, but to find ‘that’ special photo can be a little challenging, but truly satisfying when you get it right!
This is why I love being on safari, where memories abound!

I must say and I think that many will agree, that after a good hike up the Virunga mountains to see the gorillas, it certainly brings on a good appetite! Game drives are not all about the ‘Big 5’, but the little creatures too, we find these and others fascinating and encourage a few moments to observe these and many more amazing creatures. These dung beetles play a very important part in our eco system. There are approximately 7,000 different species of dung beetle in the world; the largest concentration is in Africa. This Sacred Dung beetle and member of the Scarabaeidae family, forms balls of fresh dung for feeding or reproduction, but also increase the fertility of the soil as well as dispersing seeds. They apparently bury 1 metric ton of dung in a hectare in a year – imagine that! They are one of the strongest animals being able to pull or push 10 times its body weight, equivalent to an ordinary man lifting an 18 wheeler truck! These are just a few fascinating facts of the importance of dung beetles.
