Fort Jesus National Museum of Kenya
Mombasa is a city in Kenya that is known for its rich history and culture. It has been home to many different people and cultures throughout the years. Mombasa has a rich mix of cultures, as evidenced by its diverse architecture and cuisine.
It was Constructed by the Portuguese in 1593-1596, Fort Jesus is an outstanding and well-preserved 16th-century Portuguese military fortification. It’s been a Mombasa landmark since construction. Although it’s partially ruined, Fort Jesus houses a museum built over the ruins.
Old Town
On the southeastern side of Mombasa Island, the Old Town is reminiscent of the days when the Portuguese ruled. Its quirky, eclectic architecture reflects all three major parts of its cultural makeup, which includes Arabs, Asians, and Europeans!
Mombasa is the perfect destination for people who love history and enjoy chatting with locals. The bustling streets of Old Town are teeming with people, and the smell of spices hits you when you walk in. There are plenty of places to buy souvenirs here as well!
