The Machame route, by virtue of its mixed gradient ascension profile traversing Kibo from the west, provides a better acclimatisation experience compared to routes ascending straight up from the east and north. Day 3 - Here's the team at 4600m, at the base of Lava Tower for a lunch stop - they'll sleep at 3900m tonight and head up to 4200m tomorrow. On Day 5 they once again get to 4600m before the long summit night
