1. NAIROBI NATIONAL MUSEUM.
Nairobi National Museum is the flagship museum for the National Museums of Kenya. Built in 1929, it houses celebrated collections of Kenya’s history, culture, nature and contemporary art. The museum aims to interpret Kenya’s rich heritage and offers a one stop for visitors to sample the country’s rich heritage both for education and leisure. In addition to the museum, visitors are treated to a variety of shopping and dining facilities, as well as botanical gardens that offer a serene environment.
The Nairobi Snake Park and the National Gallery are part of the Nairobi National Museum.
LOCATION.
The Nairobi National Museum is located at the Museum Hill, approximately 10 minutes’ drive from the Nairobi city Center. It is accessible both by private and public means.

2. GIRAFFE CENTER.
Giraffe center is a safe place that seeks to secure our environment especially taking care of giraffes that are endangered. Founded in 1979, it is the home to the Rothschild’s giraffes that are only found in the grasslands of East Africa. The place is run by the Africa Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) and has worked hard to increase the number of Rothschild’s giraffes from 80 to over 600. Apart from feeding the friendly giraffes, one can enjoy a wide range of other activities like nature walks, Bird walks, tree identification walks and nature interactive learning.

The Giraffe Centre is located in Langata approximately 20 kilometers from the city Centre of Nairobi, Kenya.

3. KARURA FOREST.
Karura Forest is an urban forest found in the northern part of Nairobi city. The forest was officially gazetted in 1932 and is managed by the Kenya Forest Service in conjunction with the Friends of Karura Forest Community Forest Association. It is approximately 1,041 hectares of land consisting of three parts separated by Limuru and Kiambu roads. It is a wonderful place to go for a walk for all who love and appreciate nature. You’ll get to enjoy bird watching, learn about Wangari Mathai and the amazing Karura waterfalls.

4. NGONG HILLS FOREST.
The spectacular Ngong hills are peaks in a ridge along the Great Rift-valley. The forest covers an area of 3077.6 hectares of land and is managed by the Kenya Forest Service (KFS). The place is accessible both by private and public means and is open every day from 6.00am to 6.00pm. You can enjoy a wide range of activities such as hiking, picnics, camping or team building.

Ngong hills is located in the northern tip of Kajiado County and it’s about 25 km from the city Center of Nairobi, Kenya.

5. PARADISE LOST.
Paradise Lost Park is a magnificent tourist attraction in Kenya that is basically an oasis in the middle of a coffee farm. The place was discovered in 1996 by coffee farmers in Kenya. At Paradise Lost you can enjoy exploring the stone-age caves, a breath-taking waterfall, picnics, boat riding, fishing, bird watching, nature walks, horse and camel riding.

Paradise Lost is located in Kiambu on Kiambu road just off the junction of Nairobi – Kiambu road. It is 14 km and a 10 minutes’ drive from Nairobi city Centre.

6. OLOOLUA NATURE TRAIL.
Oloolua nature trail is a 2.2 mile loop trail located near Kajiado, Rift Valley. The place offers a fascinating sight of wildlife and a serene environment for bird watching, hiking and taking a relaxing nature walk. The 250 hectares of the indigenous tropical dry Oloolua forest is home to the Institute of Primate Research (IPR). Most visitors come to the place to do a short hike, to jog along the trail, to walk their dogs or just relax under the cool, serene environs.

7. NAIROBI ARBORETUM.
Nairobi arboretum sits in a 30.4 hectares piece of land near the city Center. The place was established in 1907 as a site for exotic tree species trials by Mr. Battiscombe who was then the deputy conservator of forests in Kenya. The place is home to monkeys, different types of birds and beautiful butterflies. Apart from doing a nature walk, you can learn about different types of trees, set picnics, bird watching and hiking. The place is regulated by the Kenya Forest Service and is accessible both by public and private means.

The Nairobi Arboretum is located along Kilimani Arboretum road, off State House road, Nairobi. It is just 3 km away from the city Centre.

8. KENYA NATIONAL ARCHIVES.
The Kenya National Archives was established in 1965 and it stores over 40000 volumes of archives and public records. It holds a collection of documents of the Kenyan government from the colonial period to independence. Its mission is to offer consultative records management services to the public service; acquire and preserve valuable public and private records as part of the national documentary heritage.
LOCATION.
Kenya National Archives is located at the Nairobi CBD along Moi Avenue next to Ambassadeur Hotel and opposite Hilton Hotel.
The place opens at 8.00am and closes at 6.00pm.

9. NAIROBI RAILWAY MUSEUM.
Nairobi railway museum is a rarely visited place yet is one of the fascinating places in Nairobi. Opened in 1971, the place houses exhibits from the defunct East African Railways and Harbours Corporation. The museum collection includes operational steam trains, diesel locomotives and passenger trains. The place is operated and regulated by the Kenya Railways.

10. BOMAS OF KENYA.
Established in 1971, Bomas of Kenya is a display of traditional villages belonging to different tribes of Kenya. The place is also home to one of the largest auditoriums in Africa and is located just 10 km from the Central Business District of Nairobi. As a visitor in this place, you can enjoy electric performances of traditional songs and dance performed by the talented resident artists. Its main objective is to preserve, maintain, educate and promote the rich and diverse cultural values of all Kenya’s ethnic groups. You can also learn about the important things that have taken place there like the first meeting of the National Constitutional Conference that took place in 2003.
