It’s my birthday 🎉

I’m postponing my birthday celebration but i just want to take the time today to appreciate the love of my mother.

Whenever I returned home from boarding school and also from university in Ghana either on a short or long break my mum would always prepare something nice for my arrival.

It’s always pounded yam with Efo riro (vegetables soup) with lots of protein except I request for some other type of food, it’s always pounded yam because in my state that is the top food you can serve to a person or guest you value.

But I remember this one time I arrived home from Ghana and guess what I met? Spaghetti 😂

Guess why? Because my mum had traveled for an event in another state 😢

My siblings had prepared spaghetti for me in my mother’s absence. I missed my Mum that day because tell me why I’m being welcomed home with spaghetti

So it’s my birthday today and my Mum has always been the first person to call me on my birthdays.

Whenever I’m at home she’ll always be the first to come into my room, wish me a happy birthday, sing birthday song and pray for me. Then we laugh, joke and she proceeds to cook a special meal, because it’s my birthday

It’s my birthday again today and I am far away, and it’s not unusual that I am far away 😍 but for some reason I just miss my Mum today, I miss being at home, I miss her coming into my room to wish me happy birthday, sing the birthday song and our little chit chat afterwards.

Although I will be postponing my birthday celebration for this year, you’ll know when it’s happening 🤩

But for now, I just want to take today to appreciate the love of my Mother, her being there and how special she makes me feel on every single life occasion.

There’s no one like a mother, even when a mother doesn’t have enough money they will still try their best in any little way to make you feel special and to make every occasion count.

Happy birthday to me 🥳🎊🎉

I remember in 2012, the second time I left my home in Lagos Nigeria for Ghana.

The first country I ever visited was Benin Republic, my Dad wanted me to go there for my first degree but after the first trip to check it out, I told him no way for a couple of reasons.

Then I went to Ghana on my own. Although it was for study, that was the beginning of my travel journey and I have never stopped traveling ever since. I discovered the world out there, and I realize that it is way bigger than the Lagos that I was in and ever since I’ve had to the curiosity to see the world, to explore it, to enjoy it and to love it.

Travel has taught me a whole lot than being in one location ever can, I grew into the woman I love me to be when I left my comfort zone.
