Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda 🇺🇬

Bwindi forest is habitat to more than half the world’s population of Mountain Gorillas.

It’s generally accepted that Bwindi offers better gorilla trekking. For starters, it’s a beautiful place that has been recognized as one of the most biologically diverse forests in Africa. Secondly, Bwindi has far more gorillas than other parks in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. As of 2018, its mountain gorilla population was 459.

Visiting the Bwindi gorillas was a very special and impressive experience; it’s tremendously fascinating to see these peaceful giants in their natural habitat.

Mountain gorillas are herbivores. Their diet consists of plants such as roots, shoots, wild celery and fruits, all of which flourish in the cool and moist mountain climate.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KILIMANJARO AIRPORT

Picked up from the Airport and drive to Arusha town for relaxing and an overnight stay

Overnight: SG resort
Meals: Bed & Breakfast

DAY 2: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we will drive from Arusha town about two hours to Tarangire for a full day game drive.

TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK is famous for its colossal baobabs, grassy plains, and huge herds of elephants. The park is one of the most underrated of Tanzania’s attractions, receiving just a fraction of the Serengeti’s visitors. Other animals we can see
include buffalos, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, monkeys and more than 550 species of birds.

Overnight: Suricata Boma lodge
Meals: Full board

DAY 3: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Drive to Serengeti via the great Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will stop to view crater and Masai villages (Optional) on your way to Serengeti.

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK is famous for the Seronera Valley where a much greater diversity of resident wildlife can be found than anywhere else in the Serengeti including elephant, giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, topi, reedbuck, buffalo, and baboon. This resident prey, in turn, attracts the highest concentrations of large predators in Africa (lion, hyena, leopard, and cheetah) and a multitude of smaller
predators (mongoose, jackal, serval, and bat-eared fox).

Overnight: Tanzania Bush camp
Meals: Full board

DAY 4: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After the last morning game drive in Serengeti, we will depart to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area while enjoying a game drive en-route, observing antelopes, giraffes, zebras and monkeys.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Kuhama camp
Meals: Full board

DAY 5: NGORONGORO CRATER TO ARUSHA

After breakfast, we will descent into the crater for a crater tour.
In the afternoon we will drive back to Arusha for an overnight stay/Airport .

5-Day Tanzania Adventure Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha – Gateway to Adventure

Morning: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Meet and greet with your guide and transfer to your hotel in Arusha.

Afternoon: Take a relaxing city tour of Arusha. Visit the Maasai Market for local crafts and souvenirs.

Evening: Welcome dinner with a taste of Tanzanian cuisine at a traditional restaurant.

Overnight: Arusha

Day 2: Tarangire National Park – Land of Giants

Morning: Depart early for Tarangire National Park (approx. 2.5 hours).

Game Drive: Explore this stunning park known for its ancient baobab trees and large elephant herds.

Picnic Lunch: Enjoy lunch in the wild surrounded by nature.

Evening: Drive to your lodge/camp near the park.

Overnight: Tarangire Area

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater – The African Eden

Morning: Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.

Game Drive: Witness an incredible variety of wildlife including rhinos, lions, zebras, and flamingos by the lake.

Lunch: Picnic near the hippo pool.

Afternoon: Ascend the crater and enjoy panoramic views before heading to your lodge on the crater rim.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Area

Day 4: Lake Manyara – Tree-Climbing Lions & Rift Valley Views

Morning: Visit Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its diverse birdlife, tree-climbing lions, and scenic lake views.

Lunch: Hot lunch at the lodge or a picnic in the park.

Afternoon: Cultural experience in Mto wa Mbu village – interact with locals, learn about traditional farming, and try banana beer.

Evening: Return to Arusha.

Overnight: Arusha

Day 5: Departure or Optional Zanzibar Extension

Morning: Relax at the hotel or visit the Cultural Heritage Centre for art, jewelry, and historical pieces.

Transfer: To Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward flight.
Optional: Flight to Zanzibar for a beach extension (white sands, turquoise waters, and Swahili culture awaits)
