This underwater world is home for Dugong, the most threatened and endangered marine mammal. it also hosts the sea turtles; Olive, Ridley and Leatherback.
It has coral reefs with 50 limestone islands, which provide vital nesting areas for migratory seabirds.
The unique dugong in this marine park has a semi human physiognomy and is thought to be the origin of the mermaid legend. There are giant clams inside the reefs ๐Ÿชธ
It hosts a variety of sea birds, crab plovers and roseate terns.
The park is in Lamu county and is diverse with landscapes, seascapes, mudflats, lagoons, sand dunes, beaches, sand islands, raised reef islands, sea grass beds, and coral reefs.
It has the largest mangrove forest in Kenya with the tallest mangrove trees of about 30meters high.

Lions are the only cats that live in groups, called prides. The prides consists of a group of 10~15, including lionesses, cabs and a few dominant males.
Males have majestic manes that help to easily recognize them. The manes vary in color from blond to black.
Lions can run up to 50milesper hour, (80km per hour) for short distances and are apex predators.
Just like most cats, they are nocturnal therefore most active at night. its during the night hours that they hunt.
Cubs are born blind, they depend on their moms for the first few weeks of their lives. They are weaned between six months and one year.
A lion roar can be heard up to 8KM away and is used to communicate with other members of the pride.

Lions used to roam across Africa, Europe and Asia. Unfortunately their population has drastically declined due to loss of habitat, poaching and human wildlife conflict. They are now mainly found in Sub Saharan Africa, with just a few population in the Gir Forest of India.

In Kenya, you can be sure to find lions in parks and reserves such as Masai Mara National Reserve, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo East and West National Parks and Samburu National Reserve.
